Engineers Kamitra Cigars ... sigh...

The history of ED...

It was complaining players causing the quantities to be limited. Maybe circa 2015...Once upon a time rare commodities were plentiful. Their sale value increases the farther away from the purchasing system. So load up, fly 220 LY, sell and get a nice profit. Players called this an exploit loading up a Type-9 making MANY millions so the quantities were limited to low values and a player cannot load any more if they have the max on board. Now that they are needed for the Engineers multiple trips are required. If the purchase system is in a Boom state you will be able to load more. Some players like to make sure that these systems are in their worst state. This is how the game evolved so don't blame me giving you the facts.

Setting up a multi-system rares trading route is still very lucrative as well as adding to the explorer rating. Here was a popular one. It still works. There are many and still profitable. But per meeting your Engineering needs now you know why they are limited. Don't expect the Frontier Devs to change it.

That's brilliant, where did that come from?
I used to run a very similar route from a boring old spreadsheet, but seeing it visualised is so much better. Maybe I'll do a rare run or two again. Don't need the money anymore but it might still be fun. :)

I am currently doing this Cigar grind for the thrid time (3 accounts). Hera is truly only a step on the way to the Fujin tea Laser guy. I'm getting 5 cigars/loop.

The game designers that built these grinds are LAZY AND STUPID!

How about getting past a boss fight? How about running a blockade? How about stealing some data from a high security base? NO - WATCH LOADING SCREENS 100 X!

These tools clearly do not play their own game and are pretending to be busy at their workstations when Braben walks around.

I've been asking for improvements to rare goods spawns for years. But there are a vocal few in the community who always answer "rare goods are meant to be rare" (some examples here) - which is a pretty lame excuse for a lame excuse of a game mechanic.

Getting aligned with the faction selling the goods should get you a greater spawn. There should be missions that offer these goods as a reward. Bribery should work. There should be NPCs trading these goods that we can pirate (actually these do exist, but are exceedingly few and far between - I've seen 4 in 3 years). Bu we just get stuck with piddling spawns every 15 minutes - because FD think waiting is actually gameplay.
