General / Off-Topic Karen Armstrong Memorial

Hey team,

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, I can't find anything in the forum search and I don't know what the plans are regarding the mapping of the moon in the game but I think it would be lovely to have a memorial of Karen Armstrong on there. I find this really moving and I'm sorry if this is inappropriate, I had no idea about her.

I googled Karen Armstrong and got Karen Armstrong, OBE, FRSL (born 14 November 1944) is a British author and commentator of Irish Catholic descent known for her books on comparative ...

I thought we couldn't land on the moon in this game anyways or has that changed.

Yeah, it's daft!
We should be able to land on Luna, but can't
We've been warned against landing on Europa, yet there are surface bases there!

Have the devs no decorum?

But can you think of a reason why not?

Because there is no connection to the game, SF, Science or even Space except for her daddy. So really you could have a plethora of this sort of thing. Really devalues the ones that are inserted.

Sad story but honestly if it hadn't been stuck in a movie to pluck at people's heart-strings, who would have heard of her?

However that is just my opinion and that (as Rick would say) don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.

Movies are dangerous. ;)

It's a Dangerous game (or so this forum is always telling me), so it should fit right in...

I'm not claiming they *should* put one in now, but that there's really no reason not to if enough people want it. It hurts nobody.

In the end, it's up to FDev.

Yeah - of course. You replied while I was editing-in my reference (I have a sad habit of editing my posts just after seeing them "up in lights" so to speak, like now even ;) ):

I don't think naming a crater or mountain on Luna is a terrible idea. The only tribute you can put for Neil Armstrong really is 'he landed here' but the first landing had a much wider significance than that and it's also quite poignant to think of him unofficially naming some feature after her. So not a terrible idea but I also don't think Buzz Aldrin - and probably quite a few other Apollo astronauts, including Collins - should be forgotten either.
