Introducing Keelback Awareness Week!

135159

Keelback Awareness Week is a unique event established by the Fatherhood in partnership with Lakon Spaceways.

About
The Fatherhood Wing, in association with Lakon Spaceways, are proud to be running the galaxy’s first ever Keelback Awareness Week – a 7 day spectacular which involves a series of fun events to raise awareness of the small but mighty Keelback.
Keelback Awareness Week aims to promote the positive aspects of the humble Keelback, encourage social inclusion and raise awareness of this combat trader-class vessel - the Bubble’s best kept secret.

This Year’s Theme
This year our theme for Keelback Awareness Week is simply ‘Celebrating the magnificence of the Keelback’, and includes a suggested event activity each day, along with a series of week-long challenges for Commanders to accomplish while flying a Keelback.
These are completely optional - Whether you choose to follow the suggested events, or choose your own Keelback Adventures, thats entirely up to you. All we ask is you tell your stories and share the fun!

Daily events - these are optional:

Monday – “Special Delivery”
– Not all jobs are glamorous, but the Keelback doesn’t care. Pilots are urged to deliver Biowaste to a rival (Non Player!) faction’s controlled port to try and cause an outbreak. Biowaste shipping, in style!
Tuesday – “The Wolfpack” – Wings of Keelbacks with SLFs in a Combat Zone? Armageddon, The End of Times, Instruments of Destruction… Whatever you want to call it, it won’t be good for the other side… or will it? It probabaly will, but it'll be funny. Wing up with other Keelback pilots for some CZ antics.
Wednesday – “Keelbowling” – Head to Bombelli Prospect, the location of the 2nd Speedbowl Championship. See for yourself how the Keelback can handle itself at speeds of 3,000+ m/s on a high gravity world. Good luck!
Thursday – “Community Outreach” – Participate in the current Community Goal. Fly the Keelback with pride and keep on trucking!
Friday – “Room for one more?” – How many Keelbacks can fit inside a space station without docking permission? Last one standing wins, and might even earn a callsign.
Saturday – “Bug Squishing” – Take on the Thargoids with the ultimate secret weapon. The Thargoids won’t know what hit them. Outfit the Keelback AX style and go bug hunting! Scouts are syour suggested prey for this one, unless you are feeling brave/bonkers.
Sunday – “White Hot Glory” – Ending Keelback Awareness Week in style. Using a <screams> White Dwarf star, we will demonstrate the mighty staying power of the Keelback. Leave Supercruise inside the jet cone of a White Dwarf and test how long the Keelback will survive the gravitational forces. This will also be a good opportunity for commanders to try and escape by employing CMDR Azzbo27’s tips that saved a certain Crow from death…

Weekly challenges:

The Keelback Stack – How high can you stack ‘em? Head to a planetary body, and get a screenshot of Keelbacks stacked on top of one another.

It wasn’t me! – How much trouble can a Keelback really cause? The highest bounty accrued while flying a Keelback will win this challenge.

She may not look like much… – Post your best screenshot of the Keelback. The chosen winner will receive a personalised Fatherhood mug!

..But she’s got it where it counts kid! – Show us how fast the humble Keelback can go! Engineer those drives and post a screenshot of your top speed and boost speed!

Please follow our social media for updates and challenges on Keelback Awareness Week throughout the event!

o7 Commanders.

I'm down for some of this. I've currently kitted out a keelback for a short exploration trip and I have to say that although there are better suited ships for the job, this little ship is ooozing charm. There's something about it that I like but can't quite put my finger on.

I've been meaning to spend some time tweeking my much-loved but neglected Keelie, so this is a perfect opportunity.

Doesn't give me much time to engineer a Keelback death machine, but I'll see if I can participate in some of them.

I just read about this event on reddit and I am all kinds of excited! I love my Keelback, I use it as my primary ship and I hope that I can participate in all these events (especially Tuesday's and Friday's). Thankyou Fatherhood, for celebrating the greatness of this underrated classic!

EDIT: Where do we go to meet up with folks for Tuesday's event?

Aww this is brilliant! My Keelie is in the bubble somewhere though and I'm not! On the way back anyway but wonder if I can make it back in time? Let's find out

Hey dads! I’m a fellow spacedad and I just wanted to say hi. Does the fatherhood have a discord server?

Ran out of builds and tried one of these. Runs very cool all engineered up and even jumps well. Can't say I am in love with the flying shoe box but its grown on me enough to use it to hop around abandoned settlements etc...

While on my way to the first waypoint at the Apollo 11 Expedition, I managed to reach Gamma 2 Fornacis. It has no mapped planets at all and I spend the night at a 3g-Planet (4) in our Keelback with masses of geological stuff to fill up for later jumponiums and more.

I can tell you: sleeping at 3g, while usually staying in space and having the vessel slightly turning in FA-off just for some well-known gravity instead is hard stuff.

I feel like an astmathic.

Who got the Keelback Speed record?

Just in case you guys didn't see it in the general discussions sub forum.

"Who says the Keelback can't go fast!

Got mine up to 12,135m/s at below 1km altitude... It was fun!

Than I crashed at 11km/s and survived! Not only fast but tough as well. LOVE THE KEELBACK!!!

Enjoy
