Keeping destination locked while targeting ships or points of interest

As per the title, is there a way to keep your navigation computer locked onto your destination while you target other things? It's a major pita to target a signal source or scan a ship only to have top go back to the system map to re target your destination.

I here ya about not being able to keep the target locked while scanning other objects, but one thing I discovered recently is that YOU DON'T NEED to go back to the Galaxy map. If you scroll down the list of locations on the NAV MENU, your original destination, even including any multi-jump route previously created with the G Map is still there. Usually at the very bottom of the list. It will have a little symbol next to it in case you forget the name of the station or whatever you were locked on previously.

As far as keeping your nav computer locked on to an astronomical object while you're actively checking out other ships and USSes? Not that I know of.

I have found, however, that the GPS (leftmost tab on the leftmost pane) is pretty useful for quickly re-selecting your intended navigational target in-system. Also, if you have a course plotted out of the current system, there will be an icon (it's a route icon, which resembles a "W") on the next system in your course, even if you change your current target. I stumbled across that while scanning planets in deep space. Makes ranking up Exploration much more pleasant than I expected.
