It is good and really the only game of its' kind on Playstation...
It's good fun and you can play through various scenarios and a sandbox mode, but its' main career mode can be pretty hard, because even though its' cute graphics might mostly hide the fact, it is literally rocket science (with little green men and women)

.
I played it solidly for two weeks, but kind of hit a wall not long after being able to regularly get into orbit - i'd generally then struggle to complete the manoeuvrers necessary and/or not have fuel to get into the orbit of, let alone close to landing on other bodies.
(The game pushes you to go further all the time to complete various contracts, to earn money and earn more science to unlock more parts, but as it gets harder and you launch various rockets, if you're struggling to get any further you receive diminishing returns, to point that you can't do much more without going further, which might test your patience.)
But if you find yourself naturally good at the game or dedicate yourself to learning the more complex manoeuvrers in it, you can do as lot and explore its' solar system.
Some word of warning though, the console release of the game was long after the PC version and the initial version was messed up by the original porting developer.
The current version of the game wasn't released until after the main developer was bought by Take Two, who promised to bring the console versions into parity with the PC version, but that hasn't happened yet and may never happen and the game's official forums haven't mentioned the console versions in months, if not close to a year.
That being said, the console version is perfectly playable and normally pretty cheap, but it isn't the complete experience you'd get in the PC version, which is heavily supported by third party mods.
A nice thing about all versions is that the cute graphics help keep the game's install size nice and small.
Overall i recommend buying it, but it might be wise to watch several videos about it on channels such as Scott Manley's (he's done videos specifically on the console version of the game, but most of his Kerbal videos are from the PC version):-

(On modding games, while i'm not really a fan, IF i had access to them and was to download some, i'd be thinking of looking for one to change to rate at which pilots gain experience/how much control they have over any particular craft...
Each time you fly into orbit of the home planet, Kerbin with a particular pilot for the first time, they unlock the ability to fly prograde and retrograde, however as far as i've seen, even at their top experience level, they never get good enough that they can fly into orbit from the launchpad without your direct control.
Meaning that you've to fly them into orbit yourself every time, before their new skill becomes useful.
So even though i'd managed to get into orbit around the end of my first week playing the game, i found it rather annoying that i was still having to fly "by the seat of my pants" every time i had to get anything into orbit after that...
If the pilots got good enough to fly into orbit themselves, they'd surely save a lot of the fuel i was burning getting into orbit manually.
But again i know, what should i expect in a game where you're playing as a literal rocket scientist
