Key bindings - my personal struggle (Saitek X-55)

Does anyone have a good workable system for setting up keys for the menu selection system?

I'm using an X-55 HOTAS, and I'm struggling to workout the best layout for navigating the menus and particularly the comms panel. I'm using a four-way hat on the throttle to navigate the up, down, left, right - but the next and previous panel tabs is messing with my head. Where do I best bind this to?

I know this doesn't answer your question but i have an X-55 and i still use my keyboard for navigating menus and whatnot. I have it all bound to various hat switches but it just feels easier to use the keyboard.

I struggled with this too, but after trying about 50 different setups I have something that works pretty well for me. The POV hat is used for navigating the menu. Another hat (the gray one) has left and right doubly bound to tab right/left as well as another function (took awhile to figure out that this is possible, when navigating the UI it changes the tab but when not in the UI it does the other function.). And then the left (information) panel is bound to the left circular button on the back of the throttle. The right one opens the right (systems) panel. Communications and easy coms are assigned up/down on one of the bottom selector switches.

Seems to work really easy. Click the button and the panels open up without having to worry about binding something to UI focus and then clicking a hat right or left. Click the button again and it closes.

I bind it to one of the 4 ways on the throttle, i think its called the china hat. And i use the POV on the stick to selct the screens. That way i can navigate the menus just using both thumbs.
