Key for steam deck or how to run the game?

Hi space explorers!
How to run elite on steam deck? When I started, I logged in to my Frontier account and the game started asking for a key/code. Where can I get this code? I bought the game on Steam and this key or code is nowhere to be found. I linked the Steam account to the Frontier account and... and nothing, the Frontier account says you don’t have purchased games on Steam. I want to play, but I can’t do it without a key. On the site it says the game automatically launches into Steam, but this is not true - the game requires a key/code.
Please tell me where to find the code to launch the game on the steam deck?
Thank you!

How did you try to launch the game? If you bought the game on Steam after April 2019, you must launch it from Steam. Steam purchases after this date are keyless, and you cannot log in through the standalone version of the launcher.

Wot @Helmut Grokenberger says ^^^^

I don't know anything about the Steam Deck but on PC you have to launch Elite from the Steam library (i.e. you are logged-in to Steam) and the launcher comes up with a "LOG IN THROUGH STEAM" button for you to press - no need for frontierstore account details or anything else - just click that button. Hopefully you can translate that towards what Steam Deck presents to you.

good luck (y)

So, I have a friend who had this same issue and what solved it makes no sense whatsoever. Here's what he did.

On your Steam Deck, use its internet browser. It has to be the browser on the Deck, not anywhere else. Go to the Frontier Store and log in. Confirm that you have the game on Steam there under Partner Keys. Do nothing else. Touch nothing, you just have to see the page.

Elite will now boot on the Deck from your Steam account.

Yeah, I don't get it either, but I saw him set it up and it worked.

This is probably the crux of the matter, also, worth asking, if they do own the game, on what platform have they bought it?
Is this a joke or what? Why should I write about a steam key if I haven’t bought the games? if you play games without buying them, that's your own business!

Gotta love folk that jump to conclusions...

If you have bought the game on Steam then you won't need a steam key.

If you have bought the game on Epic you won't have, nor will be provided with a steam key.

If you bought the game from the Frontier store, as per the post above you'll have to go through them to get a steam key

If you bought on console then you have to exercise your brain cells and find on this very forum the method to transfer your account to PC.

It was strange, but the game launched on the steam deck only after installing and launching Elite on the laptop. When launched on the laptop, the game connected to the frontier account and then launched. On Steam deck the game now starts immediately without any problems.

Thanks to those who tried to help

Happy New Year!
