Keybinding camera suite and free camera for mouse/keyboard ?

I would like to ask you about recommended setups for keybinding the camera suite and free camera using Mouse/Keyboard?

Related to this question, two other questions:

1. Does Frontiers Mouse/Keyboard preset already include useful keybindings for the camera suite?
2. Can I save my current keybindings and have a look in an editor in order to manually merge mine with those of a preset?

No, I won't buy a joystick, hotas or gamepad.

Thanks for any help concerning mouse/keyboard.

If you select the default Keyboard and Mouse (Controls -> Presets -> Keyboard and Mouse) Frontier have populated the bindings with an assortment of what I assume are recommended keys.
Whether they're any good is another matter, but it may be a good starting point..

Hi,

I don't know the answers to the two questions, but here are my keybindings. If you're not making videos you can probably use Q and E to Roll Left and Right. I say this as using the mouse to yaw in free look is fine for general movement, but it can be tricky to get a fluid continuous motion for video, where as using the keyboard gives you this (although you probably have to trim the initial starting movement). Otherwise I try to keep them fairly obvious. Originally I had the Zoom/Blur/Focus set as keys, but I found it more intuitive as mouse buttons after I changed over - using the mouse also make it easier to move up and down in smaller values (currently it goes up and down way too quickly - which I hope they change!).

Just remember whatever you choose it will take a bit of getting used to. Im crap with keybindings, period - I still dont know how I ever learnt all the Elite ones (on first seeing the list of keys I almost gave up! - so stick with it!)

Mouse Movement = Free-look
Button 1 = Increase Zoom / Increase Focus
Button 2 = Decrease Zoom / Decrease Focus
Mouse Wheel = Increase / Decrease Blur
Button 4 = Toggle between Zoom/Focus & Blur (this is the button closest to my thumb on the side of my mouse)


W = Forward
S = Back
A = Left
D = Right

R = Up
F = Down

Q = Yaw Left
E = Yaw Right

Caps Lock + A = Roll Left
Caps Lock + D = Roll Right

1 = Increase camera speed
2 = Decrease camera speed

F1 = Enter Ship Camera
F2 = Enter SRV Camera

` = Enter Free Camera Mode
Tab = Hide/Show HUD.

Number Keys 1 through 7 = Interior shots of ship.


T = Stabiliser ON/OFF (stops/starts rotation)
C = Detach Camera
V = Ship Controls
B = Lock to World
