Keybinding Conundrum Questions

Last edited:
I have a T-Flight but was using a bind set from an older Logitech 3d pro. I recently reset the binds to the T-flight profile in the controls menu and it remapped almost all of the keybinds, which I'm now trying to re-learn as it's much more comprehensive. It defaulted keys for headlook, SRV, galaxy map etc etc. So in my case it was more than enough to run the game very well (although I don't like the way some of the binds work in some instances, I'll likely remap those). Maybe make sure the drivers are loaded and it's seen properly in windows?

Are we as players supposed to navigate/assign this myriad of keybindings before being able to play the game?

I don't see the issue, assign bindings where it makes sense to you and you are done.

Should this be expected of new players?

If taking a handful of minutes to do this is too much for one, I don't see how they would enjoy the rest of ED.

I assume that Xbox and PS controllers are fully mapped as default (can anyone confirm this?), shouldn't this practice apply to PC controllers as well?

FD would have to stay co-ordinated with every manufactuerer of PC controls . . . so that some people don't have to spend a handful of minutes binding their controls.

With Consoles it is easy as they basically have 2 sticks and a few buttons on one accepted Controller. Compared to the myriad of HOTAS/HOSAS/HOSASAT setups . . .

Now I've seen excellent player created keybindings, but surely FD should be supplying complete comprehensive default keybindings, imagery included - maybe even multiple choice, for all the controllers that they support across all platforms?

Sure, let's have FD spend all their time saving you from a handful of minutes of binding controls instead of adding content and fixing bugs. Sounds fun.
