Keybindings are hell

I think I spend more time fixing my keybindings than I do actually playing this game.

I have the T16000 dual stick setup plus game glass. For some reason the game decided that those devices were now Thrustmaster Warthog...That's not what it says in windows but whatever, they still seemed to work.

I'm down to my DSS honk button. For some reason, I can only honk with Mouse 2. But mouse 2 doesn't seem to be linked to DSS anything. Indeed Mouse 3 is. I verified which mouse button was which. No matter what key I bind to DSS, it doesn't work. Only mouse 2 does. What am I missing here? Also, what is up with all the tags like "BuggyPrimaryFireButton?"

Unless they're confused, as the DSS doesn't "honk", that's the FSS. And that does have a keybind. Though a lot of people use it through firegroups.

Indeed they are complicated. Once you do them, find them and save them. It's three files in

c:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

I've used them to restore them, or to move between different computers. And just to be safe in case they are wiped in an update.

Ohh ok thanks for the replies. Buggy=SRV well that makes sense. So the FSS "honk" then, since it's in a fire group - as long as I have it in the current fire group. I see now that I have it tied to secondary fire. All makes sense now.

<SecondaryFire>
<Primary Device="Mouse" Key="Mouse_2" />
<Secondary Device="Keyboard" Key="Key_W" />
</SecondaryFire>
