Newcomer / Intro Keybindings

I installed my new right hand stick, did the keybindings, and everything was working fine. I closed down ED, but when I opened it up later, it'd loaded KB and mouse bindings. How do I tell it to use either the bindings I saved or the previous ones.

There's an error file that says this. I can't fix it because it only offers KB amd mouse bindings. I haven't use my X52 for ages. for the last month, I've been using Virpil.

Here's what I have:

Did you split the usb devices over multiple ports? Perhaps you need to feeds your more power (one device per unit of two USB ports)

Thanks. There's nothing wrong with my USB. I've been using the same bases for years. The new stick is only a new input to the base, and the sticks were working fine aftere I did the bindings. ED is seeing errors in the bindings file, so it won't load it automatically. Without loading it, I can't fix it.

Okay, first thing you should try it to remove or move away ALL the .binds files except the one you're actively using and the StartPreset.start

What you have there is a mess and the game sometimes really struggles to make sense of it, especially if the different backups you've got there were made with different devices attached. :D

I'd make a "fileStorage" folder, put all the extra stuff in it, leaving only the ones that you just created in the main folder and the ones that are needed to actually work. Test to see what happened, and then go from there. As Chris stated, sometimes ED is a bit awkward with files.

If the files don't work, then move them to the storage folder, and move in the ones that worked previously...eventually, something will work out...hopefully

Good luck Commander o7

Good suggestions, guys. I'll do that so that it doesn't happen again, hopefully. In the meantime, I've made a new custom binds file starting from scratch. I'm only doing combat at the moment, so it's not too much. I'll do the rest later.

I would recommend that you do the renaming as per:

Only "custom" gets overwritten by the game - so if you renamed so that you have "d8veh" (or whatever) then you can be sure that won't get lost and you will be able to select it from the drop-down list if you go through an error situation in the future.

BTW - as stated, best not to keep copies in the same directory, it can cause changes you make to not be saved (because the game looks at line 2 of the file, not the file name).
