Keyboard and Mouse not working in game after update

As you can see my keyboard works perfectly as I am able to type to this part of the forum, however in game it does not work for Odyssey.

Now I have tested it on Legacy Horizons and I do not have a single issue with the game, but when I try and play the main game, nothing works. Now I was told to check my Keybinds, however if you cannot click on Options to get into the key binds then how the heck do you check them? My Hotas does not work on the options page either so I am locked out. Is there a work around or is it a full uninstall and reinstall of the game?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you are running via steam.

Certain HIDs needs steam input disabled because some games already has native support.

Rightclick elite in steam - properties - controller - Override for Elite Dangerous <- Disable Steam Input.

I am only saying this as i have seen it happen to other CMDRs; you used to be able to use the advanced steam functions np.

If it does not work, then yes: you may have to backup-delete your options folder in localappdata or contact support to see if the can help.

Sorry no I am not running Steam.

I should have been more clear forgive me. I am running the game the PC, Frontiers own launcher, not steams launcher to launch yet another launcher lol.
Im on a 550Mb download speed with 50Mb up so I will just redownload the game and see what happens. It should give me the options to re-setup the game and go through my own firewall. I know its not the firewall as Legacy elite worked perfectly and I could play happily there, but thats not what I wanted to do.
I ended up deleting 76Gb of data within the frontier folder (in Local file location where its stored) and redownloading.

Heh. To be clear a recent linux update voided elite PnP recognition of my controller, and only using steam re-enabled that. (who'lda thunk)
Edit: i need to emphasize that it is only by "Add a non-steam Game" that i found the workaround; was using wine directly previously.
(heck it might even end up turning out that i too need an OS reinstall x)


Anywho, like i said just contact support if it is still borked; i've seen them help quite a few over the years.

completely reinstalled the game and the issue is still there. it makes no sense, so I will have to say its unplayable for now and go through support.

OK Fixed it. Didn't go to support but instead retracked my way back through the game and my AV/FW. This did not make any sense to me but the Legacy Horizon had Trusted status, where as the main games did not have trusted status, which makes no sense. Once I corrected the Trusted status Im back in and running.
Thank you for help. and it does take a step back to see the problem. Normally a program that is not Trusted gets run Virtually with a Green line around the program, however I couldn't see this line as it runs in silly screen sizes. I run 4k which is great, but no line.
