Kickstarter reward tiers?

I paid £50 to get to second round of Beta but have the option of:

Pirate: Have the option to start in an anarchic Frontier system with a stolen but upgraded Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR.(randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons)** plus all rewards above.(£42) or

Federal Trader: Have the option to start in a Federal border system with a basic Cobra Mk III loaded with cargo worth 1,000 CR and 1,000 CR in cash.(randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons)** plus all rewards above. (£37)

I don't fancy starting with £100 as this doesn't cover the insurance or has this now changed with the 2 ships MERCENARY EDITION?

I am not really sure what happens on the 22nd Nov and then on the 16th Dec with the backers tiers

I have been wondering the same, I also have the explorer reward too.

There has not been any news that I have seen about what is going to happen. Would be nice to have these come the 22nd November, otherwise most backers won't get the benefit; most of us no doubt will have Cobras and more by 16th December, so the rewards become meaningless.

I guess it is not going to happen now, but it would have been great if the boxed sets could be sent out before the event on the 22nd.

I would love to get my copy signed by some of the devs.

PS real (wo)men start with 100c and a sidewinder.

That is what I plan to do, despite my backing level ;)

they better, I put down £100 and I want my premuim boxed edition with my T-Shirt and book!!!!! :)

And option to start in the founders system, among other options!!

Some news on this would be good, but it looks like we probably start with a SW and £1k on the 22nd Nov?

That's fine so long as there is not a further wipe.

If you trust the commodities price list on Alioth.Net to be indicative of what the original game had, and then compare that to the Galactic Average prices in beta3 you might quickly conclude that starting with only 100cr might have worked in the original but will feel like a straitjacket in ED.

I think it likely that the default starting state will be a Sidewinder and 1000cr.

If it's 100cr then you'll be lucky to find even 1T of something to trade on your first run, depending on where you start (all the Kickstarter starting options say location will be randomised for multi-player reasons, so I can't see how default start won't also be randomised location). Of course there are missions as well, but I still think the 100cr starting option is just there to make it so you can start as per the original if you so choose.

Oh, how I wish I had known about ED earlier - the pirate start looks like fun...

Oh well, will make do with my borrowed Sidey, an alleged Eagle out there somewhere, and a fistfull of CR...

Looking forward to hitting it for real!
Z...

Not having the starts points at gamma, then not having a wipe either would render the start points practically useless since everybody who has them would already be playing when they were introduced.

The mercenary pack might just be another start point like the kickstarter ones. If that is the case you might not get the eagle if you use a different one, just a thought.....

Personally I dont see the problem. in theory you could start off with a sidey, no weapons and 0 credits and it would only slow us down for a day... so long as well all start in systems with a bulletin board and can take a few delivery missions.

The default starting option is indeed in a Sidey with 100cr. As Mad Mike mentions, you could do a single data transport and you would see a few thousand credits added to your balance. Besides it would be silly to try and trade from the start in a sidewinder, you would be better off doing bulletin board missions until you have enough for a hauler if you intend to go down the trading route.

They cannot change the default starting option to 1000 credits now as that would negate one of the kickstarter rewards which was to start with 500cr instead of the default 100cr.

If you mean:

Download a single copy of the game and also gain 500 credits when starting a new game. Plus all of the rewards listed above, except the limited £20 reward. Higher rewards gain the 500 credit bonus, but this only applies if the default starting option is selected.

Then it's not negated at all.

Starting everyone with 1000 credits would in my opinion make starting with 500 credits as a kickstarter reward pointless . Still this point does not take away from the fact that the default starting option is with 100cr and a loaned Sidewinder.

With Bulletin board missions even starting with zero credits is manageable.

As regards the OP and Kickstarter's 'tiered starts' I imagine these will be implemented in time for the beginning of Elite Dangerous v1.00, i.e. straight after the 'final' wipe - as to whether this point is named Gamma, Preview or even Release Candidate, FrontierDev have yet to clarify.

The funny thing is that if you start in a kickstarter Cobra with 100 CR you cannot even pay for the fuel for one jump. But of course if it's in a bulletin board system you can easily make much more on a single trip thanks to the cargo capacity.

I've always read that Kickstarter reward as "an additional 500 credits" not "500 credits instead of the usual starting option".

I quite fancy the £32 Pledge reward of:

Imperial Bounty Hunter: Have the option to start in an Imperial Colony with an Imperial Eagle Mk II Fighter with upgraded weapons and shields and 1,000 CR (randomised start system choice for multiplayer reasons)** plus all rewards above.

I have heard it mentioned that you will be able to have multiple profiles, This would mean that I could have a Imperial Bounty Hunter profile and a Federal Trader profile (I didn't get the Pirate option :( )

Those numbers may be out of date now, but those starting option should come in gamma, quite sure it's been said by FD on the forum that gamma would be when we get these.

I quite fancy the £32 Pledge reward of:

of course, a number of us have paid more than enough money so far to equal and go above those levels of pledge but didn't even know about the kickstarter until long after it had finished and those extra's were no longer available... :(

-Kickstarter Special: Have the option to start in the founder's world with any starter ship and 4,000 CR. Note: any Kickstarter decal-carrier will be able to travel to this secret system in gameplay.
-Explorer: Have the option to start on the edge of explored space with a long range version of the Cobra Mk III and 3,000 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
-Independent Trader: Have the option to start in the Lave system with a basic Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR.
-Pirate: Have the option to start in an anarchic Frontier system with a stolen but upgraded Cobra Mk III and only 100 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).
-Federal Trader: Have the option to start in a Federal border system with a basic Cobra Mk III loaded with cargo worth 1,000 CR and 1,000 CR in cash (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons).

Not sure which start I will pick from My KS options they all look good.
And yes I also paid extra on top to gain access to alpha
