Newcomer / Intro Kill 4 pirate missions

Took a mission to rack up 4 Pirate kills for 16.5K, proceeded to my nearby RES and plugged a couple of wanted ships then...My mission got cancelled and the chap who cancelled it accused me of killing innocents and do I want to be remembered this way? further instructed me to jump to another systems Hub station where he could meet me safely and "Wash the blood from my hands" What is this stuff?

Your mission still exists, a contact is bribing you to perform the new mission instead. You can still follow through with the original mission and turn in.

Worth noting that this bribe offer comes with a bug that resets your pirate kill count (unless that bug has been fixed).

I'm not sure about the bug, but I took a simelar mission yesterday twice, only I needed to kill 4 traders and I also got the offer of killing some pirates instead, to an even higher price, however I decline that offer I just went on with my original mission because I needed the reputation to the Empire and to get some Naval mission to earn my rank of "Byron"(Currently I only got promotioted up to "master" yesterday) So if you just ignore the man offering you an alternate mission and continiue with the original one you should do just fine, my kill scores wasn't reset but I can say that for sure since it was 0 when I first meet the "new guy" ...

Keep a close eye on your promotions when turning in missions. I had a couple with no promotion(could need a couple or more higher you go?) but the real problem was that I went from Knight back to Squire today. I sent a ticket in but no telling how long it could take? I am back at Knight after a couple more missions, curious to see if I can get the correct one today...

Is there anywhere one can see all the different ranks for Empire as well for the Feds and the Alliance ?

Currently I have
Feds : Post Commander (Allied)
Empire : Master (Friendly)
Alliance : None

The bug still persists. I was one away from fulfilling the contract when that jackhole reset my pirate mission. Extremely frustrating.
