Newcomer / Intro Kill pirates mission?

So, i decided to try out and do the mission that tells you to kill 4 pirates in a system,

I went there, find 1 in a USS, then he told me to abandon the mission, is there a way to not accept his suggestion?

Did kill him after. But says in mission i abandon it etc..
