Kill Warrant scanner and Discovery SCanner questions

Hi fellow Commanders,

So I got both these scanners. In SuperCruise I can already see which NPCs are wanted. Sometimes I get an unknown, but mostly I don't see the point of the K warrant scanner. Deploying it and scanning a second time when I interdict him.

As for the discovery scanner I can aim at an unexplored sun and it scans for which sun it is. Same for planets and asteroid fields. Spamming the scanner I sometimes do discover additional bodies.. but mostly it isn't doing anything.

Is this how it is supposed to work? A bit confused on this.

Thanks in advance for any half-serious replies! Cheers!

K-warrant scanner tells you whether the target is wanted outside the current system.

Basic discovery scanner has a range of 500ls iirc. The better ones have longer ranges. KWS will find *all* bounties on the target, not just the local system one (which is the Wanted you see) so you get more buck for your bang :) I should point out that you may have to go a bit to pick up the discovered bounties, i.e. they have an Empire bounty and your the other side of inhabited space.

I'm need in Fed space, got some alliance bounties to collect.
Haven't seen alliance systems on my map yet..

Thanks for the replies! didn't know about the 500Ls range.. but this could explain that I discover additional bodies on the furthest planet sometimes.

Would be nice for KWS to work in SC. Or make it a feature of higher rated scanners in addition to shorter scan time/further range. More reason to want to save up for a better one.

How is it activated? I'm not on the game now but I don't recall a key binding for the KWS.

Also while on it. When you go to a system with no data how do you scan for plants if you don't see them?

Activate the KWS on your right hand panel under fire groups.

You can operate your basic scanner in SuperCruise - I put both scanners in my 1st fire group and my actual weapons in my 2nd fire group. Just make sure your discovery scanner is showing and fire which ever fire-button you have bound it to. It takes about 3 seconds to charge up fully. Conveniently this is about the same time it takes your sensors to scan the unknown sun you just arrived at.
