kill warrant scanner still sucks

Edit: Nevermind, its awesome. My joystick just sucks. The buttons keep getting electrically disconnected once every few seconds which isn't noticeable until you have to hang onto it. Don't get madcat cyborg v.1

I'm afraid you're doing something wrong- mine works fine, even with moving targets. Asking the obvious- you got it on a fire group, target the other ship, and scan it, right?

well, I can't get it to work. I scan a wanted ship, and it stays within 3km, and it doesn't move. but the freaking scanner keeps resetting!!!! It never completes!! I literally sat there for a half hour cursing at the scanner because it would not complete!!! The ship just sat there the whole time too. I did not move.

Do kill scanners suck that much or am I missing some kind of mechanic?

You've got to be within 2km for the basic ones to work, and 2.5km for the mid-range ones. Haven't played with one yet that has 3km range.

yes i've got a 3km one, but I even did some 1k's, and yes I do press and hold. It still keeps resetting! I even keep my head still because I'm using an oculus rift. But perhaps its because I am using the rift that its loosing lock, kinda like trying to do travel routes in galaxy map, it JUST DOESNT WORK because it somehow thinks my mouse is somewhere else when the pointer is right in front of me.

Press and hold the button and keep the target inside the main HUD area.

Here is a tip a few people know: If the target moves outside of your HUD keep the button PRESSED. You won't lose the lock but you will lose it gradually. If you can reaquire the target in the HUD again, before the lock is lost the scan will resume.

Also, chaff will confuse scans. Some wanted crims will dump chaff to stop you scanning them. Hopes this helps.

its very easy keeping the target inside the hud. But I have this problem even when THE GUY ISN'T MOVING. Nobody else has this issue?

Bind it on another key. I guess your joystick or whatever you are using isn't working proper.
I use Oculus Rift too and you can look around while scanning that doesnt breaks the scan.

Sorry, no I get it to work on moving targets every time. The occasional "Wanted" ship that just sits there and lets me scan them, not sure why they do this, I never have any issues with.

Have you submitted a ticket? This sucks if it's the case...

okay well i seem to be the only guy with this problem, I even binded the scan to other keys. Well at least I know its not the game but just something on my end, thanks.

wow it turns out my entire joystick setup is bad. I binded it to my keyboard and it worked perfect. thanks for the help everyone! I got the madcat flyv.1 Well its super comfortable and I like it but unfortunately it may have to go, I don't really like the look of the x52 or warthog though.
