Newcomer / Intro Kill warrant scanner??

No. You must set a trigger to it (mine is my secondary trigger on that load out), and you must press and hold the button while the target stays within a certain distance and in front of your ship within certain parameters (ie not extremely to the left/right/up/down). The higher the module the faster and further away you can be for it to do its job. However, they will pay themselves off with the extra bounties (or bounties you can collect while in Anarchy systems).

Good luck and Happy Hunting!

I do think having to "fire" it is a pain in the butt :/
it's silly, using a slot up should give you automatic info/warrant update on a normal scan
come on, it's software or should be

Just to be clear that this isn't 100% accurate.
Higher rated the further away it works, in 0.5km increments, but the time it takes to scan is always 10 secs.

Don't let go of the fire button is the target strays, it keeps track, if you release before scan is complete you must re-start the scan.

I didn't know you had to "fire" it.... I've always had it equipped to a fire group, but when I select a target, after a couple of seconds it tells me if its wanted or clean. if its wanted, then I already have it selected and just fire away.

That is just the standard scanner you're using which tells you whether someone is wanted in the current system. The KWS has to be fired and tells you if the person is wanted in any other systems. In anarchy systems everybody shows as clean as there is no law, so a KWS is needed if you want to make bounty hunting money in these areas.

A KWS is also useful to increase the money you get on bounties - somebody who is wanted in your current system may also be wanted in another system. Using the KWS means that you can claim all bounties offered against the same person.

When using it you have to keep the target ship in the curved reticule and hold down the "fire" button. It takes a while to actually scan so I usually pile all my power into the "Sys" so that my shields can sop up any incoming fire. Better scanners scan at further distances but usually ships are fairly close when you start scanning.
