Killed by a cheater?

Your log file should give you the commander name if you know the time/date of the incident, then report it and crack on. If you make enough noise about it with CS they will likely refund you the 8m just to stop the noise.

You can use lot's of programs - I use FRAPS. I have it running in the background and have a hotkey set to record video. I'm still not good about it, but it's nice to have if you suspect cheating and can capture the video.

Unless I'm mistaken, FRAPS records video using the very old AVI file format, which results in HUGE files! I recommend using Open Broadcaster Software (https://obsproject.com/) - it is free, doesn't slow down your game, records using x264 codec, and allows you to choose the screen resolution and bit rate of the video recording to suit your needs. I hope that this helps.

Actually, submitted a ticket to Frontier, they told me it's ok, he has very strong shields with 4 SB. As myself.

The question is not about that. What I know is Clipper should have at least 1.5 weaker shields compared to Python with Shield Boosters and everything. Hull - Clipper is made of paper as everyone said already. Why everyone keeps saying Clipper is a better ramming, face-to-face ship? It's simply not true. The question is WHY is his shields went back up after I started to bring down his hull. That's it.

However, Frontier told me it's ok. Well...

Actually, I remember seeing the same story once again. Once about about a month ago I had a same situation in Nanomam. I've seen it and I combat logged, have absolutely no regrets over it - what's the point to loose to a cheater?

I also think I got killed by a cheater. I was going to dock at Jameson Memorial station and noticed a battle a fair distance from the station entrance. The station was firing all it's weapons together with all the system security ships on one target. I tried to select (lock) the target a couple of times but couldn't. I turned around to enter the station since I had already acquired a docking clearance. The ship started firing at me and still I couldn't select my attacker but I managed to enter the station to try to dock and spent a shield bank to recharge my shields, which where low at that time, just in case. My attacker entered the station and proceeded to destroy my python in a matter of seconds.
So I'm wondering if this was a cheat as, one I could not select the attacker though out the whole instance and two the attacker seemed invulnerable to all that firepower from the station and the system security ships. I never fired on him once.

Best thing in these instances is to report the player. Don't start a thread with "cheater" in the thread title when you don't know the person was cheating. Also don't post videos because that's name and shame, and until ED has checked it out, it's just an encounter that didn't go right.

your kill / death history is logged. It wouldn't be the first instance of cheaters manipulating timers to augment cool down times or regen rates since these things dont require syncing back to FD's server and are pretty hard to spot but very effective when used.

Something as important as shields dropping should be something that is tracked on your remote save game. This would make manipulating the timer controlling the rate of regen or magically regenning extremely visible to FD.

i would welcome even more conflict telemetry on the client from fdev... and if the telemetry is missing them assume the watchdog has been turned off and flag the commander for closer scrutiny / observation and if they are found to have been circumventing the watchdog program ban their account from live servers and relegate them to a shadow ban server ... that would solve a lot of problems once it becomes known that they are doing this and banning people

This happened to me earlier today...

I decided to play in Open Play for a change and took off from Jameson Memorial. Inside the station was a Python flying around wasting folk and the stations lasers
had no effect on him. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, I managed to get out when an Grieverconda was waiting for me outside. He took my Asp out three times in all
and every time I saw him the station and police were firing at him continuously but that appeared to have no effect on him.

It looks like its back to solo mode for me then until someone sorts this cheating business out.

Wish you could have got some video and informed the devs. (or at least inform the devs with CMDR names for them to check up on)

Every online game is a cheat fest. It's just the way kids were raised to believe cheating is ok. FD can't fix the player base. Good luck.

This^

But p2p certainly doesn't help, it's open day for cheaters/hackers. Client/server would be far more secure (although nothing is 100% safe)

Fd take it too lightly. They'll get a 1 day or 1 week shadow ban and that'll be that.

They should be wiping saves and proper shadow bans. Once people realise there is a zero tolerance policy and they'll lose their progress then people will stop cheating except the die hard few and they'll end up shadow banned.

Report him to FD and hope you have video.

YOu dont need a video. The game servers record data from the game and keep it for a period of time.

The devs then look over the data from the issue at hand.

But will they do anything about it thats another thread on its own.

Huh. Cheaters are now blockading the Jameson Memorial, from inside the station while the station defenses fire at them.

That's pretty brazen. Does anyone at FDev actually play the game?

And FDev still haven't done anything to stop the ridiculously obvious cheat (that can not be named)?

Playing in open usually. I am the Hudson supporter. In A-rated Python, absolutely everything is A - except weapons. Commander which is enemy and in our space attacks me in Clipper - jumps over to a pirate USS I followed (had a mission to kill some pirates). He appears almost right in front of me so I open fire almost immediately. His shields goes half-way down. He shoots and tries to ram me. My shield is almost down but I manage to hit SCB a couple of times. Finally I bring his shield down (have 5 lasers on Python) and his hull falls to some 90-ties. However, after that, magically, his shield is UP. I can't believe my eyes. He shoots me, rams me a couple of more times and I am dead.

What was that? Am I seeing things? ... It's not about 8M insurance money I've lost (but those are money anyway), but about the understanding. Cheater?

Unfortunately he had some long name so I couldn't remember.

You take his hull at 10% with 5 Python laser? 10% only!? Man, 3C Beam laser takes more then 10% at first strike!
And after that battle he come back to you, and take you down in what time? Fast?

Cheat engine activated after his next arrival, 100%.
