Killed by police while not wanted

Hi all. I just got murdered but the police forces right in front of a station, and I wasn't WANTED.

I was previously in a RES, shot a police by accident, got the wanted tag. I jumped out of the system to a different one. I checked my transactions tab to see if I was still wanted, but I wasn't. I jumped back to the original system, still wasn't wanted. Went to station, request docking and approach entrance. I got scanned by the police, but I just let them do, as I was not wanted. "Did you think you could hide your wrongdoings!?" and then pew pew pew kaboom! There goes my new Python...

So why did this happen? Why did they shoot me if I wasn't wanted anymore? Should I file a bug report/complaint or am I missing something?

Cheers!

check your reputation with that faction. if you are hostile (in terms of reputation, not powerplay), they open fire, whether you are wanted, or not. did you get docking clearance? you where just writing you requested docking. if hostile, a station won't give docking clearence.

I did get docking permissions, yes. It was after the police scanned my ship that chaos started. My reputation status with the faction is "cordial", and they show all green in the radar. Very puzzling.

Has happened a few times with me. I don't think the "you have attacked one of us" flag is removed quickly enough.

Bounty become dormant bounties, and upon scanning you become wanted again. Dormant bounties run out after more time.

*DINGALINGALING!* Weeeeeee haaave a WINNER!

This is the point. Avoid being scanned if you know you're a naughty boy! :)

I did not have a dormant bounty on that system, I did check that.

That wanted tag you had- that went away with thesystem jump. That one. The one you got when (your words) "shot a police by accident, got the wanted tag.".
It "resurfaced" when police scanned you.

Sorry for your loss.

That's odd, because if you only just got a bounty, waited for it to run out, then went back to the system, you'd have a dormant bounty.

Did you mean you had a bounty, left the system, waited for the DORMANT bounty to run out, then went back, got scanned, and were killed? Because that would be a bug.

But it sounds like your bounty ran out, then you got scanned and the dormant bounty was raised, making you wanted, and being killed.

It fits with the message sent to you as well.

I did not have a dormant bounty on that system AT ANY TIME (or if I had it expired so absurdly quickly that I didn't even see it). I didn't have to wait for anything, the bounty tag disappeared when I left the system. Ten I checked in the Transaction tab (where dormant bounties are supposed to be) and I had nothing related with that incident. No bounty, no dormant bounty, no expired dormant bounty, no fine, no nothing. Zero. No winner. I assumed that whatever bounty I had on me expired real quick (it was like a 400cr bounty) and I could just go back to the system, because NOTHING was shown in my transactions tab. But then the cops shot me anyway.

Sorry, but you probably did have a dormant bounty, even though you couldn't see it. The transactions tab is a bit buggy at the moment. It doesn't always show your fines, bounties and dormant bounties, and sometimes it shows them as being owed to a different faction.

You should be aware, even though the cops blew you up, you probably still have a dormant bounty in that system.

I don't know if they fixed it recently, but a couple of months back, bounties didn't always show. If you killed someone to become wanted, the bounty will last for 8 days even if it doesn't show. If you shot, but didn't kill a cop, the bounty will last 8 minutes, so, again, you have to wait out that time before jumping back, whether it shows or not. When the bounty expires, it'll change to a fine, so if you don't see the fine in your transactions, you should be very wary about jumping back. I'm pretty sure that I had a 8 minute bounty disappear from my transactions a few days ago, but I can't be certain.
