Killed FOR NO REASON in Diso!

So I was flying into Diso for one last delivery of agricultural equipment before heading off to work, hoping to cross the threshold from 70% to 40% in the top contributor standings for the "Cultivating the Corn" CG there. I'd been trading in open and hadn't been harassed by Code or anyone else but, to be honest, haven't had a lot of time this last week to really contribute much to the goal.
On my way to Shifnalport upon dropping into the system... I get interdicted! By another player!
I know, I know: "Drop throttle and boost away." I didn't.
I fought the interdiction and thought I was going to escape for a while. He kept at me for a good minute or two before finally winning the "mini game" and dropping me out of supercruise.
I pulled to a halt fully ready for the "drop your cargo" line while I put four pips behind my shields.
Meanwhile the other player lines up his Cobra directly in front of my Type 7. No words. No warning. He opens fire. I boost, hit flight assist off and activate my turretted beam lasers.
By the time my lasers are bouncing off his shields my own shields are gone and my hull is at 83%. Still waiting for my my FSD cooldown so I can make my escape. I'm doomed.
The Cobra pops my powerplant and I'm left with a view of the debris that used to be my precious trade ship, the "Molly Malone" spinning in a cloud of smoke. A second later I'm greeted by the message "Your ship has been destroyed by CMDR ######."
I smile and pay my 900k credits insurance bill.
I could have played this out in Solo and been virtually guaranteed that my trade run would have ended in success. I think this was actually more fun. I'll stick to Open.

Maybe you should read the thread CODE interdicting in Diso. Sorry for your loss...

The recent community goal has put that bunch of folks* in a right odd mood. So much so that I think the community goal was deliberately placed there.

*Trying to find nice words...

Yeah... I was playing in open hoping to meet some Code players and at least get to trade some interesting banter before either dropping my cargo or getting blown up. I don't think this guy was Code though... don't they usually ask you to drop your cargo before opening fire?
I'd at least have liked to have had the time to blurt out "What about my wife and kids?!" before he took me down. I hope the dude enjoyed it... I'll make up the lost credits in no time so it ain't no big deal.

Yay for you for taking it so well!

Still waiting for the first "you should play in Mobius" comment. I don't understand why people take it so personally when another player shoots you down. Is it ever really that big of a deal? The times I've been killed by other players have always been the most memorable events in the game for me and that, to me, makes each of them worth it (as was the one time I actually contributed to another player's death in 'Betapocalype' the night before the Gamma release).

Not all of them. There are a few vinegar/water types in that group that live only to make things go boom.

Most of them are pretty cool, but every barrel has a few bad apples.

Betapocalypse was fun! :D

I admit I have suffered from "ED death Tantrums" oh the indignity of being shot! Now I look forward to it as currently asteroids and stupidity kill me far more often... It's a good thing we can't name and shame rocks!

Well, technically, we can. The mods only smack you on the nose with a rolled up newspaper when it involves other players. :D

I was participating in the community goal in my Cobra so that if I got destroyed I could just enjoy the experience without worrying about the rebuy cost. I was carrying an extra tonne of bio waste in my hold with the intention of handing it over to any would be pirate and running. Sadly nobody interdicted me. )-:

I think it probably only applies to self chosen commander names.... so calling a lump of rock "ItchyArmpits" and placing a video of yourself flying into it isn't going to attract much attention from the moderators, beyond a few people pointing and laughing :D

There was a reason, it was called amusement because in a virtual world there are no real consequences to your actions.

It does filter out the socio-paths from the norm.

Probably not CODE. They usually hang about in gangs. I did see a lone Cobra (name starting with P) attack a T7 last night. Probably a newbie who thinks ED is just a shooter game.

I've enjoyed this CG because of the activity. It's awesome flying into Sniffleport or Ridley Scott with busy 2 way traffic of Anacondas and other big ships. Chatting with other CMDRs about pirate sightings and their experiences. Evading and avoiding pirates. A private group or solo would miss that.

I get upset if a player shoots for no reason and with no communication. Not because of possibility of loss (I've plenty of money now) but because they are idiots who spoil the game for others.

CODE's "blockade" failed spectacularly. The goal is now complete, in half the time. I flew 40 trips (in Open) and was interdicted only twice by CODE with no loss (only saw them on 4 trips), Also twice by other pirates wanting cargo (really, Water Purifiers?) and twice by bored pirate hunters wanting information and a chat.

Diso will have 50t allocation of Corn for 30 days, and that should increase trade, and targets for the pirates.

I'd at least have liked to have had the time to blurt out "What about my wife and kids?!" before he took me down.

I use AutoHotKey with a number of messages ready to go at the press of a key. I may add that one.

Hmmm, just yesterday night (21-23gmt) we had two full battle-wings lurking in Diso, but found no pirates kill. Plenty of players around, but we did not witness a single interdiction we could intervene in - much less get our own pirate-bait interdicted.

Shame the OP got popped. That is not how proper Pirates work. Perhaps send off the name of your killer to the head of Code in a PM - if it was one of their members, he'll probably get a refresher-course in the, well, code. And if not, I am sure Code would like nothing better than to hunt down murdering maniacs :)
