Engineers killed twice in python by fer de lance in 9 seconds in last hour.. kthnxbb

I think that we don't talk of the same experience. My A-graded Python has 224 units cargo and I don't want to convert all my cargo racks in shield cells and hull reinforcement packages.

You don't have to. My Python has no shield cell banks and only 2 HRPs in the class three internals. Thus I am heavily built for cargo as well - 208 tonnes. Not that different.

You can modify your trader build to make it more defensible without turning it into a battle Python. And you can get advice and information from people on this forum to help you develop better combat and fleeing skills without committing to the life of a full time fighter pilot, and definitely without combat logging.

These things are all within your power to do.

Boy meets girl beneath a silvery moon... which then explodes

... If you can't kill it outright, you have to high wake out to another system - stick close to the sun & wait. If it comes there, flip over with your tail in the corona, and wait for it to plunge to its death.

Thanks for the tip. The Python is my favourite ship. I'm not going to be hounded out of it by these pieces of processing.

I got my point defence fitted. I had my shield booster improved by an engineer. If all else fails I'll follow your tip, and sit waiting beside a sun whilst listening to "Disaster Area"

I can flee without problems in 2.1 (always have another system selected, submit to interdiction, boost and high wake asap), but I miss interdictions by smaller ships or at par with my combat rank. There is no more diversity in interdictions and I doubt that I will ever reach the level to win against an Elite FDLs or Anacondas with my multirole Python.
In my unarmed Asp Explorer with now 40 Ly jump range, the only strategy is to flee or logout as even A-rated shields don't last long...

I have upped my hull strength after the engineers patch. Losing shields is a lot easier now than it used to be so I need to prepared for that. I even lose shields in my bigger ships with over 1000 MJ shield strength - that never used to happen. But I have not lost a single ship yet though (in fact I have not lost a ship for half a year or so - playing defensively even when doing combat). Anyhow, I play with over 1000 hull strength on all of my ships at around 1500 if I intend to do combat on purpose. I do lose some cargo space for that, but that is the price of survival, I can still play. I can always of course get back to no-shields-only-cargo-racks-trading if I want to make life exciting.

I am nearly back to the bubble, have been out before and after engineers came out so I haven't seen these NPC's yet. I'm now getting quite concerned about losing all my data.

You have to know very well how to flee quickly (submit to interdiction, boost and high wake as soon FSD drive is on again) or how to logout immediately after pirate message or how to be prepared to kill the process of your game in task manager within a few seconds.

I do wish you would stop encouraging people to break their immersion by combat logging, especially since you yourself have already stated how it is easy to escape via in-game methods such as high-waking.

Be reasonably cautious and maintain situational awareness, but don't worry about it. The whole 'killer AI' thing has been blown out of all proportion.

really this update is horrible for causal player like me.(few hours / week). i dont play much, playing mouse and keyboard because im used to it from other games, however, after this patch i dont intend to play or buy frontier stuff.
as a huge fan since elite II and especially frontier first encounters im disappointed, that one patch can basically ruin the game for me (and from what i read, also for many more).
I lost in two days 4 or 5 pythons just because NPC during _under 100k reward mission run_ kills me under 10 seconds :
- during deploying hardpoints i lost almost all schields
- cell bank was basically useless as well shield boosters.
today it was fer de lance (or what ever the ship is called) and i died twice in matter of minutes... and not speaking that i was not able to resist the interdiction due another bug with that.
- im not speaking about looking at "stand by" always during mission board for like 20 seconds each time during loading accepting mission etc...

really its like x-rebirth release, i think frontier is loosing player base with such releases and after certain game(s) will come out, it will loose more
sorry to say that but thats what im thinking, as i loved to just fly in space, w/o question the best part of this game (apart from supercruise), i even didnt mind the grind and space trucking.

I too have an A-Class Python and it's the only ship I can use, my FAS is in lockdown because I can't transfer what I have for mods into it, doesn't have the cargo capacity. So here is what has worked for me in running out from interdictions.

1. Most interdictions come right after you come out jump space near a sun, pay attention to the message board, if you get an interdiction message, slow down immediately and drop down to normal space speed. This way you won't have to play the stupid escape interdiction mini-game that is an RNG thing and really doesn't have anything to do with flight skills IMHO. Also, you won't experience the long FSD cool-down after you come out of the spin cycle, which in 2.1 are quite violent. This will give time to do what is next.

2. Go to the destination selection, select a nearby random sun to jump to out of the system you are in. Be ready to select a second one if your first choice is obstructed by the nearby sun. Boost as often as you can while you're doing this. I don't know if it helps but it makes me feel good.

3. You have two choices, one is jump to that random system as soon as your FSD is available, or if you can stomach a little combat, wait till the bad guys show up and you can see what the ship is. For me almost 90%+ of the interdictors are FAS, FGS, FDS, FDL, Python, either elite or deadly, with those guys, all I do is boost and jump to a random jump selection. With Explorers or less, I have been taking them on out of principle and been successful (that means I survived with most of my hull, I have been down to 50%) the bounty usually covers the repairs with a little left over.

3. Proceed to your original destination from your random selection sun. This wasn't possible until FD toned down the interdictions, right after the upgrade, I was interdicted by the same Python 3x's after going through three different systems and got blasted to bits due to the instant death bug they also removed. Now if you are quick, and do what I do, you have a good chance of getting away. And I have never given up one ounce of cargo to the bad guys.

Good luck CMNDR

yeah, also thnx for the hints, as i wrote, im really causal player and dont know all about that, but if i have an 100k reward mission (buy some stuff and bring back to station) i would not expect something like that to be dead in few seconds ( i wouldn't post something if i had an 2mil wetwork missions.. then its just my stupidity).. day before i was running same type of missions and worst ship what interdicted me was python and not really skilled one .. and then next day, basically same runs FDL and killing me twice :) because of that i avoided high paid missions. Npc with railguns seem a OP at the moment, they seem to be able to hit you from any angle with FA off regardless if you are using vert and lat thrusters.
