Killing a 'Wanted' Player in a system where he is not Wanted!

There are tons of opportunities to bounty hunt legally in any system.... Meaning I wouldn't get attached to a single wanted pilot, chasing him through hades to give him his due and collect the profit... Remember that the wanted criminals are part of the game engine, they spawn everywhere you go... If going after a player commander it's generally considered taboo by the majority in open unless they provoked you. But yeah, bounties are super easy to collect, just gotta get into a good combat ship... I was very impressed with my cobra, even more with my asp, and now in my dropship I'm easily making 1-2mil in bounties and assassination/kill pirate missions.

If you are after a particular target for assassination mission, that target will randomly spawn each time you return to super cruise in that system... Most often he is flying around randomly in super cruise and you'll have to interdict him or sometimes he drops and you have to follow his wake... If you have trouble locking on & dropping on his wake, you can just drop and return to super cruise, waiting for him to spawn again... Sometimes exiting to the menu then restarting, jumping back to super cruise helps if he dropped and can't find him again

Alot of Weak & Unidentified signal source sites in any system (stay away from Strong signal source sites until you get stronger & can handle multiple opponents), especially if on a kill pirate mission, you will find a pirate... And of course if you have some cargo you'll get interdicted by pirates... I especially like to scan them when they fly up close to scan my cargo.... Allows the KWS scan to do its 10 seconds of magic before you open fire and start maneuvering & attacking/countering his attacks. If you can prolong the fight, keeping distance to recharge shields in between attacking him head on, a heavily patrolled system will find you the cops dropping in to investigate reports of crime and help you finish him off, you still get he full bounty when he explodes.

Just make sure you can bug out in time if it gets too hot... Don't be greedy... Better to pick on ships in your size range for smaller bounties in lieu of risking destruction from overpowered bigger ships for larger bounties and having to pay exorbitant repair/ammo costs.... If you find yourself being attacked by more than one pirate, run... Likewise don't hunt any pirate being shown in a wing until you get in a larger more capable craft... Always have your insurance deductible in savings to protect your investments and prevent going into long term debt.

Resource sites are good places to find pirates... High intensity resource zones tend to have a lot of cops to help you fight... Just have to get in a portion of the damage to get the bounties as described above... Watch out for wings in these res zones... You will be attacked by the wingman at the same time as you are attacking your target.

Combat zones in systems that are in a state of civil war between two factions are anarchy zones... Meaning lawless... You go into your right panel and into the functions tab... The very first option is faction choice... In combat zones is the only place where it works... You choose which side you want to be on/fight for then your radar shows your allies in green, all the enemies in red... You target a ship and help attack it with your allies... When it blows up, you get a combat bond that you redeem at any station for credits in that system in the contact option... A good way to rack up some credits and benefit of no bounty on you or even having to scan to see if they are wanted... I don't even bother with the kill warrant scanner in these zones... Just take care to not travel/chase too far away from the combat zone beacon because then you'll be out of the zone and accidentally get a bounty.

Bounties last 7 days in that system then turn into a legacy fine... Alternatively... Park your ship at a station that sells a sidewinder... Strip the sidewinder of all modules that are sellable or downgradable and get yourself destroyed... The ship in storage will be available.... Just make sure all bounties, bonds, maps are cashed in. But yeah, even if you are wanted in that system you can still land & trade as long as you smuggle yourself into the space station without being scanned... Outposts you are rarely scanned unless the system is in civil war... You might very rarely get randomly interdicted by a cop... If you can win the mini game to evade then that will buy you time to land or exit the system while he waits for his FSD to cool down after failing the interdict.... If you lose mini game, full pips to engine, two to system... Flight assist off, don't touch any controls to maintain a straight course/vector... Boost boost boost.... Program in a hyper jump (not a super cruise) and jump as soon as your FSD is online... Praying makes you feel better.

Hope this helps, continued luck!

slightly off topic, but are there any plans for a mechanism to get rid of the tonnes of small bounties clogging up the transactions tab? i have had the good fortune to not have been killed in quite a while (JINX!) and have built up a large number of tiny bounties in a lot of different systems. I have done a tour to collect the worthwhile ones but am left with a lot of chaff. Do i have to buy a sidey and play chicken with a station?

Ive seen it requested as you described but nothing as of yet but the only option you describe.

Hello Commander Arjin!

I'll have to respectfully disagree.

As a bounty hunter, you are working for individual minor factions. Other minor factions don't respect their laws.

In fairness though, any time you see a wanted status you will be legally allowed to attack.

Further to this, when we get Interstellar bounties up and running, you'll be able to hunt the mega-criminals across huge swathes of space.
I disrespectfully agree.:p
Interstellar bounties? Where have I been lately? What are these?
Sound good though.:)

Hello Commanders!

Yes, the three superpower major factions will be able to issue bounties valid for their entire territory once you've caused enough problems for minor factions aligned with them (plus, once the bounties are resolved, they will turn into major faction-wide legacy fines).

This will work for both PVE and PVP, as in, an Interstellar bounty can be claimed by AI ships or human players.

Does this mean then Sandro that if I hunt and destroy enough "wanted in other systems" NPCs that I could get a galaxy wide bounty on my head just for getting rid of some serious vermin!

Will the Powers be able to issue bounties for the territory they control?

I must say I'm happy frontier has finally allow their staff to talk more openly abut future features.

There's Legacy Fines and Galaxy Wide Bounty (all your active bounties combined) which are both displayed in game in their own way. Plenty of data to work off to add more depth to BH. Perhaps they'll even add in a bounty for War Crimes, because you know how it is if your power figure says it's okay to shoot kill and maim well then that must make it okay?

Not sure if it's still under discussion, but FD did mention in one of the patch notes they were reviewing the idea of a major faction level bounty. Rack up enough minor faction and system level fines/bounties under the Empire and an Empire level bounty across all Empire systems would be issued.

It's mentioned in this very thread twice by the lead designer. >________>

I already see some bounties which are for just 'Federation', 'Empire' or 'Alliance'. Is that the same thing or a placeholder for the system you just described?

Is this active now? Or it will be?

Somewhere in the bowels of FD towers Sandro, manacled to the wall is receiving "staff training" on appropriate communications strategy ;)
