Killing the game softly?!

As much as I love this game as much as I’m seeing its ending soon to me at least if certain common sense issues are not seriously fixed.

Certainly there are many issues to talk about, but I will only mention here community missions that are being completely ruined by some players, whose sole purpose is destroying other players’ ships while heading to mission station to deliver cargo or bounties, killing the whole idea of community cooperation, missions and the whole game.

1. Why on earth we have to pay for the rebuy cost of a ship destroyed offensively by another player? Shouldn’t at least the offender pay for the rebuy cost as a penalty? This will indeed deter many of them, whose numbers are increasing in the game.

2. Despite being fired at by two players ships while doing community bounty mission, when I tried to defend myself, I became wanted. So, as they wrecked my ship, I paid about 7 millions to rebuy it, and was thrown in detention station more than 40 ly away from community mission system?! Seriously?

How does this make any sense or add to the fun of playing the game?!

Every time I play the game, I become more impressed by the creative programmers and artists who made it, how about impressing us more with common sense gameplay rules?!

Sorry for your loss.

In Elite Dangerous despite the efforts of the creative programmers and artists, common sense gameplay rules do not necessary compliment their efforts.

CGs are usually catnip to certain members of the PVP community who prefer nonconsensual engagements of new players despite our new Crime and Punishment system designed to deter this type of gameplay. The system isn't perfect yet and your best defense is to avoid playing in Open unless you are ready to take this risk. Solo or a Private Group is much safer for PVE gameplay.

The rebuy insurance premium is always paid by the owner of the ship, but assuming you were clean at the time you were engaged--I.e., not Wanted in the system--then your attackers will be penalized on an exponential scale and also gain notoriety for criminal behavior. This may not deter players who can afford these penalties.

I'm assuming you fired on your attackers before you were able to scan the ship status as Wanted or accidentally fired on an authority ship nearby during the engagement. Both of these will incur a bounty on you and if your ship is destroyed, you will respawn in a detention system closest to your last location by design. Then you will have to pay your outstanding fines and the rebuy cost to your account. They are a bit behind the curve these days due to the 3.0 bugs, so it may take them a few days to get back to you.

If your ship was destroyed due to a bug or some kind of special circumstance, you can try to file a ticket with Frontier Support. They can look at your logs and reconstruct the events and in some cases can issue a refund if valid argument is presented.

Honestly, just play solo. The rules for crime & punishment, insurance, etc in Elite are basically designed to punish the victim. Just avoid all of it, save yourself the grief.

So basically, you don't want to play with other players? If only there was some kind of way to play the game and contribute to community goals without being forced to interact with other players...
