D
Microsoft has ceased production.

Now I can sell mine to CeX for 50p.

Hardly surprised by this. The only time I use mine is to pause stuff on Netflix when I'm going to make a cup of tea even then it has not ever been able to handle a Scottish accent very well. Also getting 50p for anything at CeX will be an achievement in its own right! You'll be lucky if they give you an old pound coin [blah]

Oh noes!

Without my 360 and XB1 Kinects I won't be able to use my gaming consoles to watch urm, cable tv, or something.

It's well past time this nonsense died - but the actual tech is very impressive and will hopefully find a use better than slicing up watermelons.

this pretty much renders Cortana also useless..

So, thats, lets count.

1, windows 10 mobile
2, Microsoft Band
3, bing
4, bing rewards
5, kinect
6, Groove

Failed projects. (pretty sure i missed some)

With soon to follow:

1, Hololens (aimed at businesses, to costly for regular consumers, other devices already a step further and more momentum. )
2, Microsoft Film and TV (Working pretty well, i use it regularly, there for they gotta pull the plug soon.. Seriously, competition is huge, not MS's core business, not enough revenue)
3, Rumor goes MS is working on a fold-able device.. But, so is Samsung (to be released next year. And, looking at MS's history about new "projects" i aint have faith it's going to work)

My point, MS should stay with Xbox, Windows, Office.. Focus on this, innovate in this, leave hardware to, err, hardware giants like LG, HP, ASUS, Lenovo...

The windows 10 mobile situation is a shame, it really is a great OS and the phones hardware is surprisingly good but devs dont care about it.

Its a bit sad to see kinect be killed but its in the same situation as windows mobile, a pretty decent piece of kit but not being used by devs enough.

As for Cortana i would say its wont get killed just yet, headphones can be used for it so being without kinect isn't too much of an issue.

A shame it never took off, but it was a significant contributing factor to just how poorly XB1's done this gen, so I say good riddance given it was an appalling decision to bundle it early doors.

RIP. No surprise really, it was quite technically flawed and useless for gaming...on a gaming platform.

It was quite memorable in the movie Paranormal Activity 4 *shudders*

can't .... resist....
