Kingdom Come Deliverance

Kingdom Come Deliverance is out. I think it's a great open world sandbox with an authentic representation of Bohemia in medieval times (15th century).

This game already stirred some "controversy" on a so-called gaming media of a laughable credibility that asked to boycott this game because it doesn't feature any people of colour...while being set in 1400s in Bohemia.
I just...LOL.

On a serious note - it's a good game.

You're joking, right? No, of course you're not. It's 2018... :/
For crying out loud.

But yes, I've ran through the first hour or so and it looks really cool!

Buggy game. Will keep an eye on it for now, wait until they patched most of the bugs.

Skyrim sneak archer all over again.

I spent last night enjoying playing it and bugs and performance issues aside, it's an awesome game. I'm sure the issues will get sorted soon enough so it's definitely worth putting this on your wishlist if you haven't bought it already.

Here's what i wrote in a different thread.

I'm so far enjoying this. It's a rough diamond. A particularly big but rough diamond. It's funny graphically, it can at the same moment look exceedingly beautiful and decidedly average. But on my 980gtx system running on high settings I'm getting constant 69 fps so that's good.
The story seems pretty good so far (I'm maybe a couple of hours in and taking my time with things) it's nothing that'll win an Oscar but it's reasonable for the genre. The voice acting ranges from excellent to average though so far more on the excellent side I feel.
The combat is the only thing I'm a little baffled by, it's very punishing and I'm no game combat slouch, there's a very weighty feel to it all. Swinging a weapon or your fists feels like you are fighting in molasses if I'm honest. For me at this very early stage I'm having to admit that im struggling to feel it click with me. I'm putting this down to my early learning curve though rather than maybe any core fault with the combat.
Someone on another forum made a statement about the quests along the lines of saying that playing them feels a lot like the missions in say Deus Ex. They offer many solutions to things and a bit of out of the box thinking by the player will go a long way.

Early days but this feels like a rough diamond as I say. Rough like maybe the first witcher game felt rough. It clearly is an amazing effort by a fledgling small team with limited budget, it's clear that resources and investment will pay off in years to come. Hope it sells well

Yep VGs graphics have come a long way..

What about the game play?

Ah, the KickStarter backed on a Windows, macOS and Linux basis launches on a Windows, PS4 and Xbox selection. On the plus side, they gave a no quibble refund for dropped platform backers.

I like it so far, a bit cutscene heavy the start, and quiet a lot of loading screens

it's a more realistic approach to combat than most of these sorts of game, I've played for 3 hours so far and only killed one bandit

Realistic is an understatement. Going from Witcher, Skyrim and even Mount and Blade i feel pathetic.

But i practically HATE their save function and basically being thrown into situations mid mission without any pause or choices and just have to make do.

Fencing is bloody hard.

And lets not even talk about archery...

My only gripe is how wooden and dead everyone is. They need to add a little life to the characters eyes. They all look miserable.

The save system is rubbish.
I can see what they were trying to do, trying to add a bit of tension by making it so you can't F5 every few second, but these ideas always end up making the game annoying rather than tense

You can get this on GMG with 20% off during February.

I have played approx 1.5 hours and am really liking it.

I like the combat, although Ive done very little so far, so looking forward to more of that.

The acting is surpisingly good too, I am already finding myself getting immersed in the world, I'm have an old GTX 760 and it still looks beautiful.

Lockpicking is hard, which is a good thing, I wouldnt want it to be as easy as Skyrim, although according to Warhorse's twitter feed they are reworking it, I think people on controllers are finding it particularly difficult.

It's lovely but have plenty of rough edges.

- Characters feels...dead, no life in their eyes
- Even on maximum the textures feels bad
- Bump mapping could be improved or even added since it feels like it's missing on everything from wooden doors to log cabins with extremely smooth logs and boards

The main issue i have with lockpicking is that there is such an extreme difference in cursor movement of the "sweet spot" compared to rotating a lock, and that's on EASY difficulty.

Also, would love a slight change to savegames:

- Save in bed
- Save in church
- Save at shrine

That would solve a LOT and add plenty of savespots that we would have to find without having to mod the game.

I found Lockpicking stupidly hard, I ran out of lockpicks in the lockpicking tutorial

Graphics look fine to me, I don't care if they are not up to the standard of a AAA FPS. I'm more interested in a believable world than bump mapping. I haven't had any performance issues (except maybe loading times)

I cannot wait for SOME kind of aim assist with bows.

I mean, aiming by sight with a REAL bow is one thing but KC:D is basically sheer luck.

Perhaps a small circle that start small and quickly becomes larger as it becomes harder to hold the pull of the bow.
