Kornelius has a nail in his shoe, and Frontier have hit it

I just watched this video by Kornelius Briedis and I agree with all his points.

I was unaware of an engineer named Didi, thank the lord I was, 200 Lavian Brandy needed to unlock her, ummm.... that's a good one Frontier, was that a 4:30pm on a Friday idea?
There is a massive difference between skillful difficulty and plain time wasting.
I understand that Frontier have a very difficult job when it comes to balancing the game, but surely there is a better solution than relying on random chance.
How about items for engineers upgrades being handed out during particular missions by factions that are highlighted by engineers themselves, ie their friendly factions or factions that they rely on?
As for the Lavian Brandy, I too would like to second Kornelius' challenge to David Braben, Michael Brookes and Sandro Sammarco, and see them achieve this engineer invite on a live stream.

I am fully aware that this post is probably another of many that have expressed distaste for certain aspects of the latest update, however I am a true fan of the game (I have a YT channel pretty much devoted to it), I am very concerned that there seems to be a lack of empathy towards us, the players, as to how we are to achieve the goals the game sets.
I have confidence that Frontier can and will sort out the issues that we are facing, but if we do not let them know about our problems, they will never be dealt with.

My mileage with this game was as follows. GRRRRRRRRIND!

Then got burned and stopped playing for 6 months.

Now I am enjoying playing with my conda, FOR THE FIRST TIME, doing what I should have done in the beginning. Enjoying picking parts for it, killing npc's, dong trading WHEN I WANT IT.

I don't care about the engineers. I burned out with that part when I discovered there were 70+ materials to grind with Random Number Generators in inara.cz

And don't take offence at capslock. This game causes some TENSION when I remember some subjects :D

Sad to see this guy get so disgusted with this patch after how much he has supported the game and been pro FD. He was the guy who's videos I watched back in the 2014 beta that got me to purchase the game.

Customizing your ship is fun. You can finally actually customize your outfitting in a way that can go a completely opposite direction in module upgrades / weapon choices than someone else in the same ship, but be just as effective as them at whatever task it is you are going for. EXCEPT getting to the build you want is a ridiculous amount of grind after grind and RNG after RNG.

These modules should have all been released as Cr bought modules/weapons to supplement the same boring cookie cutter builds that have been around since beta. The engineers should have been slight upgrades to modules to make your module a little better each upgrade with ZERO RNG involved. This grind for content is such a boring addition.

Hey, Kornelius, do you want my mats?

Because I'm about to vent all 600 of them just so they won't get in the way of my mining.

Once again, someone fixating on getting all of the highest level upgrades, right now, decides that the game design is flawed. As if the game only offers the Engineers content. The posters here will go about labeling me this or that. I can live with the fallout but, let's all take some perspective. Do you really suppose that the power increase that the rank 5 upgrades provide should be gained in a matter of weeks? I certainly hope not. But, the conversation here on the forums dashes my hopes because it is obvious many do.

It's just like the trade grind, 'searching for luxuries', and Robigo. People throw themselves into these pursuits, and complain about what they are putting themselves through. Of their own volition. Just to have the most, right now. I have no advice for that kind, nor much compassion, anymore.

You do it to yourselves.

Hitler said the same thing.
