Hardware & Technical KUDOS to Logitech for replacing my Saitek (Mad Catz/Logitech) X-56 Rhino HOTAS

[up] Logitech has earned my business.

I purchased a Saitek X-56 Rhino HOTAS last June not knowing that Saitek had been sold to Mad Catz. Mad Catz gutted quality-control at Saitek and pushed a bunch of sub-par product out the door at a premium price, then sold what remained of Saitek to Logitech which is now stuck dealing with all these defective/flimsy X-56 Rhino HOTAS kits.

My first X-56 Rhino HOTAS arrived from Mad Catz D.O.A. and Mad Catz replaced it. Then it broke again six months later (torsion spring in grip, centers Z-axis). In the meantime Mad Catz had sold Saitek to Logitech and through some legal chicanery USA customers found themselves with a 90-day warranty while European customers got 2-year warranties. Since the HOTAS kit was sold advertised as having a 2-year warranty Logitech, though they did not have to they stepped up, took a swing and knocked it right out of the park by not only replacing the entire X-56 HOTAS kit (only the joystick was broken) but also by extending my USA warranty to 2-years from purchase date.

KUDOS to Logitech. I went right out and bought a Logitech G933 wireless surround-sound headset with built-in boom-microphone ($139 USD, very happy with it). My wireless lighted keyboard, my wireless mouse, all Logitech.

All hail Logitech.

My X-55 had that same torsion spring break, but was already a couple of years old. So I replaced it with the X-56. Was very glad to see the Logitech name on it.

Same here swapped out my x55 for a x56. Took a bit of faffing about but they got there in the end.

Mad Catz gave me an X52 pro last year while they investigated the problems with my X55. They replaced the X55 and said keep the X52 and as their wharehouse was only 10 miles away they bent the rules and allowed me to collect.

[up]I give Logitech credit for stepping up. As a corporate acquisition Saitek/Mad Catz is currently a doo-doo sandwich and Logitech could have easily told all of us U.S. Saitek/Mad Catz customers to screw-off with our 90-day warranties but didn't. They not only replaced my entire HOTAS kit but extended my warranty to be (2-yrs.) on-par with the rest of the world.
I find that when dealing with vendors it is important not to whine and complain but just ask for something, tell them what you want and let them know that will satisfy you. I told the Logitech rep if I had the same, 2-year warranty as everyone else and could get 2 years out of this kit I would call it a wash and just be a smarter consumer in the future. Well, they replaced the entire unit even though only the joystick was broken and did not even ask for the old devices back, just made me cut the cords and prove it (spare parts!); then extended my 90-day warranty to two years from date of purchase.
Given the exceptional customer service I will probably buy my next joystick from Logitech, just as I have my last two or three joysticks, just like my mouse, my keyboard, my speakers, my headphones, etc. . . .
