Lack of Males - Workaround

Apart from the fact that I'm not very versed in biology, so I don't know if that's a possibility (then again, when did the movies ever take actual science really seriously?), you could ask the same question about the movies. They started out with female only so I'm ok with them sticking with it for the game, considering it's based on the movies.
The films had to explain why (or how?) the dino breeding was [intended to be] controlled, and so we knew. The game doesn't need that distinction. The whole its based on the movies isn't a very strong reasoning; if it was, we'd definitely have Aquatic & Avian species because they were in the movies too.

If you're releasing a game with breeding dynamics, then the addition of male or female makes sense - even if the male ratio is stupidly rare, but to release a game where breeding is irrelevant cause it doesn't happen, there doesn't seem any actual reason to adamantly state "they're all girls". This further promotes an issue (relating to the films) where we know some islands do have male Dinos - we're exploring all the islands in the game, but none of them feature male dinos?

I think both the males and aquatic/flying dinos are missing first and foremost because it would consume too much time to implement them for launch. I for one would expect that the males look a bit different (not necessarily larger/smaller, but more impressive) so that would consume time and money. But I do believe that at least the latter will come as DLC. We'll see.

I agree with you in principle that they don't have to have a gender if breeding is irrelevant, but I don't see the difference between game/movies. We're creating the exact same park. I would expect it to follow the established canon. Yes, unlike the movies we'll open parks on other islands too, but going by the previously established parks (JP and JW) they decided on female only. Seems reasonable to me to stick with it in the game, even if it may be irrelevant/illogical or whatever in reality.

The real reason is having to make baby dinosaur models is unnecessary work. It doesn't need to be done.

Fair enough!

Surely we're already going to have some sort of aging process though? Unless acquired Dinos are going to be released to us at adulthood and don't remotely grow?

In any case, baby Dino's don't really need to be new models; just scaled down versions of the bigger models, maybe with the odd texture tweak. Whilst some Dino's likely go through changes as they grow (I can't imagine the likes of the Triceratops & Stegosaurus being born with long horns and large sails) I'd be willing to compromise.

I guess I'm just slightly bothered by it; all this work for what has the potential to be an awesome game, and a few shortcuts have been taken because it isn't deemed necessary. What's wrong with having a complete experience? It's like releasing the game without Avian & Aquatic creatures (and yeah, they may be DLC) but as it currently stands (with no confirmation of Aquatic or Avian species) i's like we're lacking the larger experience, which is disappointing when you consider the possibilities, in addition to all the care, coding and attention to detail that has otherwise gone into this.

I can't speak for everyone, though I'm sure I speak for a fair few, but I've been waiting for a proper Dino Park Simulator for ages - at least since JPOG (which was hit and miss). The potential fear(?) that this game isn't going to meet expectations leaves a lot to be desired.

I wasn't in Hammond's lab when the idea was adopted to bear only females in a life creation park, but if you want some animals, of almost any given species, to be taken care of, raised and survive well in the wild, females are the perfect model. Low combat rate, less destructive, less aggressive toward other individuals, and high probability to result in bigger size than males (bird and reptile biology) .... anyways, THAT GAME IS GONNA BE GREAT!!!

From what I understand there will be no actual visible aging, just a number. I would guess in years.

I would say that is wrong. Baby Dinosaurs do need new models. Have you ever seen babies of modern animals? They don't look the same. Modern lizard and bird babies don't look like scaled down versions of the adults. They do kind of look like adults but they have certain characteristics about their physical appearance that tells you they aren't full grown adults. Plus you have the other issues like nests, nesting, mating (no one knows how that happened) and so on. Unless you want baby Dinosaurs to just start magically appearing.

It's going to be an awesome game. The problem is your definition of a complete experience is different from everyone else's. That is why we don't have baby Dinosaurs, cause Frontier put a lot of time, effort and coding work to make this game happen. Baby Dinosaurs just aren't necessary for them to make the game, get it on the market and make a profit. They might be important to you but there are a lot of people out there that they aren't that important to. I would like to see a young T-Rex of some baby Triceratops running around myself. But in the grand scheme of things it's isn't necessary for a JP zoo/park management game. As far as expectations go? As long as you keep your expectations realistic then he game will meet them.

I doubt we will ever see baby Dinosaurs in the game. I would be surprised if they managed to do it with a DLC.

Best movie canon example is the baby T. Rex in TLW and baby Blue in FK. Both are not scaled down versions. They have baby/juvenile characteristics.

You'll both notice I didn't say that baby dino's were simply scaled down versions of the adults, only that I would be willing to accept and compromise them. As for managing a park with baby dino's; we had baby dino's (and children riding/feeding them) in the Jurassic World film.

I will be getting this game for PS4 either way, I'd have just appreciated a little more is all. :)

That juvenile reminded me too much of an adult Raptor; very similar in size (maybe a bit smaller) and the fact that it pounced (like a Raptor) when killing (and then feeding on) Mr Ludlow. If only an adult Rex could move and pounce like that, a fair number of Dino's (more than usual) would fear for their lives.

I noticed. I was simply adding to what PCMR4Life said.

Maybe you accept the compromise but I bet the community will go nuts and start a riot here and on reddit to have proper juvenile models.
Personally I like how it is now, because the baby dinosaurs will be to small, that's also the reason we don't have Compsognathus in the game.

I understood what you meant. But scaled down adult Dinosaurs would just not look right. I would rather have it done right or not at all.

Yeah it would be just one more thing people can whine and complain about. We don't really need that cause they make up enough stuff on their own.
