Lack of rank increase

Well after flying across inhabited space for a few months in my Bob (battle conda) I looked in my transaction tab and noticed that I had about 7mil of bounties uncollected (cant land a lot of places with Bob) so I changed out of the Bob and into my Battle turtle (Asp) and collected my bounties well collected them all no rank bump :S what gives I thought the rank advancement was linked to cashed bounties?

Any Ideas CMDRS?

7 mil of bounties doesn't necessarily mean you will have made enough kills to increase your rank anyway.

It depends on what rank you are already, the kind of kills you got (ship/pilot ranking compared to your own) and your progress through your current rank.

Your progress through a rank is indicated in the right hand panel as you make the kills.

Handing in/claiming bounties will affect your rep + give you cash, not increase your elite rating.
