Lakon 9 Setup Help

Can anyone post me an ED shipyard setup for a proper Lakon 9 ?

I am thinking to buy a Lakon 9,
but only got 40 millions , an ASP 35 millions and an Imperial Trading Clipper 29 millions worth so i could prolly sell them.
Not sure if its wise.

thx in advance

I would save up some more cash first - you need to be able to fill the type 9 and be able to afford losing 400+ tonnes of cargo and insurance.

One slip and you could lose a lot of progress

here you go:

this is the setup i use for my type 9.

one thing you'll notice about it is that i've swapped the class 6 shields for a 64t cargo rack and put class 5 in instead of a 32t rack, they are strong enough to handle minor collisions but not really combat rated.

its a halfway house between running with no shields and max cargo or keeping the class 6 shield that takes up a 64 tonne slot.

filling it with cargo costs a little over 3 million when buying for around 7k a tonne and the insurance is nearly 6 million, i always keep a minimum reserve of 20 million to ensure i don't end up back in a sidewinder.

all things considered i think you'll need about another 40 - 50 million before you're ready to take a 9 out of the dock, any thing less than that will be very risky.

You need bare minimum 100 million for the Type-9, seriously, don't consider it unless you have that cash. I had 95 mill in total, struggled badly for a few day's, ideally you want 120 million or more.

This is my normal config when trading - Fuel scoop is optional depending on the trade route. It costs 350,000 credits to fill up the tank, with An A3 scoop you only lose 8T of cargo and it scoops quick.

You also need 5million credits for cargo, and enough left over to pay your insurance

a very similar setup to mine, i see you've also gone with the class 5 instead of the class 6 shields.

Am pretty surprised with how these shields are holding up, I stripped the ship down and took it on a 2000LY trip to visit various Nebulae.. Impacted an Asteroid, and only lost 1 shield ring.

Am not looking forward to the bill for repairs and wear&tear when I get back to civilization :/ Took 15% damage scooping a Supergiant from 700LS away!! Further away than Earth to SOL :) That alone will cost nearly 1 million credits. Still it's been an awesome journey in this beast, and a nice change from hauling palladium :)

Advice on The Lakon 9

Hi Cmdrs,
I finally made it into a Lakon 9..ah the grind:)

But the last 2 days I seem to get interdiction every third trip? Way up on what we've been getting.
I'm in solo.
The cow is so slow that you get caught every time so I'm taking a beating any ideas?
Is it worth trying to claw my way up to get military grade shields...but the cost:eek:

Most crucial question:

Are you flying in Open or Solo? Are you preparing for NPCs or Cmdr pirates?

Before missile-nerf I loaded mine with a whole bunch of seeker missiles. Anything up to Asp just vanishes (unless the tango has ECM, something basically nobody uses). Now I don't know how effective it would be, but well, I've moved on to Anaconda.

Just got mine but every jump I make she heats up to 107%... What do I need to change to produce less heat???

Upgrading the power plant is the main thing. 107% wont cause damage to your ship, also disable any modules not required. The Cargo hatch uses a lot of power and generates heat, it doesn't need to be active unless scooping.

Yeah I moved to the Anaconda too. Loved the T9, but things are becoming very intense ingame. Am hauling 400T in a Anaconda and never have to worry about interdictions.

The T7 does the same - with heat. Don't worry about it - just don't try jumping when you will brush a star! The way I see it is that these are space trucks right? Compare to real trucks - diesels - they are most efficient when hot. In other words, trucks run hot as well and the Lakons are the space equivalent and so they run hot too. They are work animals!

Thx guys :p

There's no doubt that the best upgrade for an L7 is a Python and the best upgrade for an L9 is an Anaconda.

I've just been doing some small missions down in Empire land trying to get a Rank Ascension mission on the board and realized i didn't need to drive a Python just to deliver a data msg to the next system 3LY away, so I kitted out an Adder just for boppin around to do these missions. What a blast, the thing handles like a go kart.

I had an L9 and an Anaconda for a bit, but just couldn't deal with the "lumbering" effect. Once you've driven both, you start to wonder why your grinding for credits after you have enough to kit out a Python with enough left over for owning smaller ships as well.

Just my opinion, YMMV...
