It's no secret that I love Faulcon DeLacy... However I'm finding myself getting more & more involved with heavy industry in Elite.

The time has come to start looking at Lakon ships, for heavy haulage, mining, and believe it or not, security.

Faulcons are good for small business... But I think for me, Lakon is now the way to go for more advanced, capable ships. Including vessels that will benefit from larger crews later on.

So I'm looking at ships like Types-', Asps, and Diamondbacks.

It's time for me to move onto big rigs.

I'll always love you Cobra... But I need to move onto something bigger now.

This is genuinely a painful point in my career as a CMDR. Sad times. But if I'm going to do industrial jobs... I need industrial ships.

And I have great respect for that.

Damn Lakon crap, falls apart too easily. If you want to get      done, fly Faulcon DeLacy.

Just kidding, kinda. Love the looks of the T-9 and DBX and wish they were better ships than they currently are, Keelback looks cool too but I'm not sure what to use it for.

Lakon cockpits are how I'd envision a cockpit for space would look like. Maybe not so much for combat but for general ability to have a great field of view they are awesome.

On a more sensible tangent get a type 6 in your life, good little trade/mining ship and it can out run most things even more so with gineer'd drives and you can still hit outposts

Faulcon tries too hard to be all things to all people. They make some nice ships, but most of them lack focus. Lakon focuses.

I'm keeping the Cobra because every successful businessman needs a sports car.

But the work is for the Lakons.

That's why I have my Viper III. :D

I really wish though that Lakon made a higher-tier medium ship, somewhere T7 range or higher, with medium hardpoints. Something I could use for mining that fits between the Asp and the T9, ya know? Twin smalls on the T7 are SO SLOW...

Lakon or bust! I love the utilitarian ship designs and bubble canopies. The Diamondback Explorer is hands down my favorite ship in the game. I'm having fun engineering every module on it!

Wow Alicorn's going to park his Cobra:eek:... surely the thargoids must have gotten him and replaced him with this strange clone.

Anyways, the DBX and DBS are two of my favourite ships in game and I believe you can't go wrong with these two. The DBX is still my go to exploration ship as it has got just the right number of internal slots to take what you need, but you still have to be carefull because there are no redundancy's. A step up from those you have the Asp twins. I'm a fan of the AspX which is really your jack of all trades and just requires you to fiddle around with some of the outfitting to just do whatever you want to at any given time. especially now with module storage.
sprinkled in between these ships you have the type's. For their size and price, they do carry a whole lot of cargo, but they lack something for me personally, apart from maybe the type 6. I once owned one of those which could be configured to do almost anything outside of combat clearly.

I really like the lakon cockpits and they seem to have better lateral and vertical thrusters than the Viper/Cobra's and I really like the design ascetics of the DBE however with only 5 internals I'm finding it a pain to refit for whatever I'm doing where as the Viper/Cobra MK IV's have enough to do pretty much what I want in a single fit with the exception of mining...

I guess I'd have to go to the ASP E to really be multi-role in the lakon ship line without spending too much?

Man, the only sensible Lakon progression from a Cobra is an Asp Explorer.

1: Proper multi-role, like the slightly bad tempered uncle of the Cobra.

2: Great range.

3: Lots of guns.

4: Fantastic view.

5: Sounds like a Lancaster Bomber, for goodness' sake.

I kept my Cobra, and still use it for fun. Still got my Asp, too. There was a point where I'd spent more time in the Asp than the rest of my fleet put together. It is truly versatile, and actually very fun to fly. It feels appreciably bigger than the Cobra, and you have to learn to use the drift. I think some folk forget that the Asp is a Lakon ship... ;)

Precisely. The luxurious dashes with their fancy blue lighting are nice and all, but in a real instance where you are working in three dimensions, you need to see as much as possible. I have an affinity toward the slab-style dashes.

New save, new RP game.

I'm going to focus on Lakon this time around.

First goal: Diamondback Scout.

Not sure I'd entirely agree with that comment. The Lakon T6 makes a worthwhile stepping stone between the Cobra MK3 and the Asp Explorer:

1, Much more cargo space
2, Uses mostly the same modules as the Cobra, so you can transfer you FSD, thrusters etc across, thus saving money.
3, Almost as fast as the Cobra and still quite manoeuvrable.

Makes it easy to earn the extra money required to purchase and outfit the Asp in a quicker time than with the Cobra and when you get the Asp, you can move your modules back to the Cobra and sell the T6 if you don't need it any more.

Being a Keelback fan, I'd point out that the transfer from Cobra is even more compatible (all weapons).

Anyone got any more word on when (if?!?) the DBE is getting the extra class 2 internal?

I'm loving the Lakons this time around. Even more than my old Viper/Cobra Mk IV's !!!!!

DBE is my next target and then maybe a Keelback before I go ahead and grab myself an ASP-E.
