Lakon Type 6 upgrade Ya or Ney?

Hi all,

After a little advice as I currently own a Cobra and do a bit of trading and also bounty hunting, bounty hunting around resource extraction points makes me around 150k-250k per hour fairly consistently. Trading varies as I don't spend the time to look for fantastic routes, I wanted to do some exploratory runs, based on these and my 44 tonnes of cargo space see if it's worth investing in a bigger ship for a short period!

I know have the credits to buy a Lakon type 6 and enough spare to kit it out, I am only interested in making some quick cash on short routes so just need to max the cargo space out and probably keep the stock shield until I am used to the big lump of metals handling.

What is the max cargo space with and without the shield for a Lakon type 6?

I think I was 104 with shields.

It's not a bad boat to pilot despite what the weans say on here. A proper trader.

The dosh will come in faster and quicker upgrades to your fun ships. Or even increase the fleet....

Stramasher,

Thanks for the confirmation and link very useful, 104 is not bad at all and still retains the ability to land at outposts. I will do some trial runs in the Cobra and see if it's worth it.

I'm running 100t with scoop and shields on my T6 - thrusters, power plant + FSD are worth upgrading to reduce trade run times and open up more one-stop routes.

I've owned a couple of type 6's and each time I ditched it pretty quickly. If you can find a very profitable and short trade route then it's the beans, but for anything else its completely useless and somewhat vulnerable. Find a route first and then buy would be my advice.

As a CMDR pointed out on the " I hate my new T7 and want my money back hissy fit thread" yaw and roll are the key for getting the best out the trading boats. Good advice.

Oh and wait till you see the view...

Cheers for all the advice...

- Will consider other upgrades as making 1 jump instead of 2 or 3 makes sense
- I will check the routes first to be sure
- The view is something I look forward to and aiming for an Asp eventually

100+t? I'll have to go back and look at mine. I think I'm around 74t with Shields and pretty much nothing else (no scoop for example). I couldn't find any other bays free to add Cargo space but I must be missing something.

Been out of Elite for a few days since I found the remake of Baldur's Gate on steam lol!

I dropped the scoop on my T6 and T7 cos you will be raking the credits in the fuel bills will be insignificant. They are pretty frugal on juice and once you rep up with the factions on your route the fill ups are cheaper still.
Also they do not like heat! Upgrade the power plant early doors helps immensely.

Forget about adding guns or Shield Cells to the T6. Even with the best A4 or is it A5 rated Power Train and Distribution (can't remember), and A4 shields the T6 can't support the basic pulse lasers or Shield Cells without the systems shutting down. It was WTH OH **** moment for me getting interdicted after the 1.1 UPGRADE! Not sure that's a bug or if that's deliberate. If it was deliberate, curse you FD!

Best to make use of Cargo Slots in their place. 88 tons was what I had mine configured for, using A4 Shields. 96 tons if you decide to go with A3 Shields and hope you can boost away in time before sustaining heavy damage.

You'll probably find it has the stock cargo racks which are usually half the size the bay will take.

I sure hope it's a yay because I just bought one :) I've not actually taken it out yet as this was late last night so I went to bed after mostly outfitting mine; kept the discovery scanner on mine (this will go when I've made what I can from scanning my route) so starting with a round 100-ton capacity and 27ls unladen/ 18.41ls laden jump range. Until now I've been using a Cobra, maxed out I had 44 tons cargo hold which was good to make a few quid but it's time to go bigger for more profit, when not trying more combat-involving gameplay. For combat the Cobra's fine as long as you remember to keep the enemy below the horizon when using the secondary hardpoints, and 44 tons can make you a fair bit of cash but clearly the Type 6 has over double that. See others have linked ED Shipyard; this is a great site for reference.

T6 is a good stepping stone to help you either go back and properly pimp your Cobra/Viper or get hold of an Asp. I was quite fond of my flying brick but not fond enough to go back and buy another one :)

I used my t6 until I had enough cash to buy the asp. It's a good workhorse but a bit vulnerable to interdictions as all you can really do is boost away.

When we have wings I am thinking it may make a semi decent mining ship too tho will probably need something with guns to protect it.

The type 6 will teach you to hate trading tell you get the asp :) then its not so bad :) asp to type 7 is a bummer tell you learn to fly it right. Then its a nice money Maker.

totally agreed on this, i kept my cobra for some fun and bought the T6 but only had it for 2 days trading then moved onto the Asp with upgrades, sold off the Cobra as the Asp can do either trade or combat till i had enough for a T7 with upgrades, sold the Asp built a battle Viper, Now im in a Python (my target ship) i do have enough to buy and upgrade a T9 but would need to trade in the Python so thats a no just now :D
