Lakon Type 9 - Little inquiry for owners of said ship

Greetings ^.^

I'm currently flying the Lakon type 7 for my trading needs but i'm looking forward to the type 9, having good memories of it from the Beta. But the costs are really not the same anymore... So, If a type 9 owner could answer me those little questions here, i'd be most grateful.

1) I really would like to know the cost of a class A FSD for the Lakon type 9.
2) Also an around-to-ish cost estimate of upgrading the ship so that it can carry 496 tons of cargo (which is, i believe, the max cargo you can have without sacrificing the shield).
3) And lastly what would be the jump range of the type 9 with the best FSD and 496 tons of cargo?

I recall reading that this beast is also a fuel hog, so i guess i'd probably swap one of the cargo slots for a fuel scoop, but we'll see about that when i actually fly it.

Please feel free to share any other information you may find relevant.

Cheers.

A6 FSD was about 16mil and a half if you have founders world access. Upgrades costs really depend on if you can get the 10% ship discount.

As with the replies above the shipyard site is quite good for getting your ship components worked out.

I bought a Type 9 myself yesterday had 100 mil to play with. Setup with 496 tons and shields. I went for a B6 FSD for the meantime because I have a nice A-B run thats only 9ly away. will upgrade when i dont feel so tight. I've already doubled the money i had from the money I had left over. It really is a cash cow :)

That handling though yeesh...

OMG Riktar, that's definitely a great tool there, thnx a lot for the link!

And yes Reacher, i should have founder's world access, as i'm a backer, but i've never bothered traveling there actually. But with the costs of a type 9 i guess it would really be worth going there.

I recently bought a Type 9 too, didn't have a lot of spare cash to upgrade it (about 10m), but after a few runs back & forth it's now 500t cargo (moved the shields down a slot) & as the poster above said, making tons of credits :)
C6 FSD will get you up & running, costs around 1.5m.
B6 FSD about 5m
A6 FSD 16m ish
Would advise having 15-20m minimum extra credits before buying, otherwise you need a calculator to be sure you are flying with insurance every-time :)

I swapped back to the python and 220 tonnes of cargo from the type 9 with 460, found I could fly my run twice in the python in the same time it took to do it in the type 9, and the python is so much less stress to fly.

Enty

I fly my type 9 in 2 configs, depending on what i'm doing with my money, this is my basic config,

or now as i have a bit more money, and wanted to try out the A7 thrusters like this,

With the A7 thrusters and the A6 power distibuter it flys much nicer and is more enjoyable to fly, and is also quicker to earn money as turning in SC is quicker and docking is quicker whilst i can fly permantly at 210 ish in normal space, although i'll chop back to the original config soon as i'm going to buy a Python again to go with my type 9, and theres 50 million tied up in the A7 thrusters and A6 power distributor, and i also had to upgrade to an A5 power plant from the A4.

Cough-bullsht-cough! The T9 is just as fast as the python in FSD and cruise. A decent pilot wouldn't lose too much time docking either. A few seconds longer to line up approach maybe

I must admit I had a hard time letting my Python go, but it's for the greater good haha

I must admit that i'd love to get my hands on a Python too, and probably will in time. But i figured it would make more sense to aim for that Lakon type 9 and use it to make loads of cash, thus making the acquiring of new ships that much easier / faster. The Python can land on medium pads, so that is a real plus for sure but i hear that ship has some quite high maintenance costs, which would make it a ship i'd get when i have some decent money reserves.

The Python configured for cargo is a useful stepping stone to the Type 9, as it hauls an extra 50 ton of cargo to the type 7. Its what i did anyway,

Depends on what you want he type-9 for. If you want it to farm money, the Anaconda and Python can be a close competitor. At mu current route, I am farming money for my Anaconda from basically 0 using Python. By the time I can equip a Type-9 for trading, with the time it takes away from trading to buy and equip type-9 & the losses I will take when selling the Type-9 for Anaconda (not selling Python as its the best outpost trader) means they break even at best or I just need 2 extra hours at Python to make the difference in income. The anaconda make a better station trader because iit is faster and jump further, opening more 1 jump options.

I really want a Type-9 to be viable, but in my circumstances it is a saving of 2-hours or so of gametime and I sacrifice playing the to be nerfed Python at its best for a cow. I did buy it to see if I can handle the turn rate and speed, but the killer is the lack of A6 FSD in stastions in my area. A 2 jumper in my Python became 5 jumper with B6 FSD, that does NOT work. So unless the station you're buying itis close to your area & have A6 FSD, You'll waste time that can be used to gain credit to reach Anaconda faster.

So do your spreadsheet homework, and see how T-9 affect your current/future route with its limitation. It can work for you and many others, but at my specific case, jumping to a trading Anaconda is actually faster direct from a Type-7/Clipper, I bought Python for a change in scenery.

The T9 with an B5 shield can carry 500T and you can ram an T7 at boost speed to death and still one ring loaded.

So for a T9 an class5 Shield is sufficient imho.
