Real World Theme Parks "Land of Oz" Defunct theme park reopens for month of June.

BEECH MOUNTAIN, N.C. — North Carolina’s former “Land of Oz” theme park will open for a limited time next month.

The park will be open every Friday in June and tours will be held at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., according to organizers.

The first tour, Friday, June 3, is sold out. Other dates are still available.

This is the third year The Land of Oz has participated in Family Fun Month by offering an intimate tour with Dorothy.

"This is an opportunity to walk through a classic story with the main character," Jana Greer, who plays Dorothy, told WGHP.

The theme park is located in Beech Mountain on the western part of the state and operated from 1970 to 1980.

Oh, interesting. Me and my big bro would love to visit a Wizard of Oz theme park. [happy]
To bad I'm on the wrong continent though. [blah]

Although I've not been to this one I've been to another closed and long abandoned park before. Although they are neat they are generally not worth a huge effort to go to it. You can see about everything in the pictures.

Now if you could pay to stay the night alone. That would be an experience.

Awesome! I would really like to walk around in a abandoned / defunct theme park. I have spent a lot of hours on the internet looking at pictures of defunct parks.

I've been to this one in October 2 years ago. Lake Shawnee Amusement Park. Very Creepy.
