Horizons Landable lava planets - was it a dream?

I seem to remember Michael Brookes actually saying/writing that we will be able to land on airless lava planets at a later time when Horizons launched back in a day. It was an answer to a question what planet types we will be able to land on. Michael listed all the ones that we can land on now (ice, rocky etc.) and then added that lava type planets will be added at a later time.

It may have been Ed as well?

For the love of me I cannot find any info on this. I think it must have been during a live stream perhaps? Can anyone remember that or did I dream it? (Which is also entirely possible :D )

Nope, I have a vague recollection of this as well. In fact, every major update in the Horizons season I would purposely fly myself into a lava world just to check if I could land on it yet.

Although I think something might have gotten lost in translation and where everyone (including myself) assumed FD meant the worlds with glowing red lava floes on them (because, yes you can get versions of them without any atmospheres), they actually meant the addition of volcanism (geysers and fumaroles etc...) to existing airless worlds.

Ah, that is a possibility. Although I'm pretty sure it was specifically mentioned as an additional planet type you'd be able to land on.

Also, I think I know what my question at Lavecon (pun not intended) on FDEV Q&A panel will be this year :)

Be sure you specify airless lava worlds... otherwise you'll just get the standard "atmospheric planets are long way off" response

I remember it too. I was expecting big gushes of lava and volcanoes and ..........

What we got was camp fires [knocked out]

Here's hoping to the Q4 explo update... I honestly CAN'T WAIT for that!

Lavecon is in 2 weeks, I shall be asking the lava planets question then.

You might also care to ask when 3.1 will be landing, but I suspect they might pre-empt you with an announcement :)
