Landed at surface station and jumped into SRV, can't find ship :-S

Well, subject says it all really.
When I loaded into my SRV, I drove forward, then after a short bit of moving around, I looked behind me and saw an empty hanger. My ship appears to be underground and I can neither find my way back to it nor dismiss it...
Help! Help! I'm stuck

The SRV deploys from surface stations at its own little garage, and not from your ship's hangar.
IIRC you have to request docking (as usual, from the contacts tab), then use the compass to navigate to the garage. Then board your ship from the crotch panel.
