Landing Bugged?

Please Help, I've been playing for some time now, but still a noob. I'm having trouble landing for some reason doing everything right but I hit the pad and can not dock for some reason. Have read this is a known bug but really getting on my nervs.

The two most likely causes: landing gear not deployed, or you're facing the wrong way. (Or I suppose just missing the pad... but I'm assuming you've lined up in the docking display. Also assuming you're landing on the _right_ pad.)

thanks for reply, landing gear is down, on the right pad and lined up in the docking display. Facing the wrong way? I though you could land any way on pad?

Like Imagix said. Check your heading, landing gear and clearance for pad number. Also if you don't see your pad highlighted, you can use compass next to your scanner to navigate towards the right pad.

The only landing-related bug is disappearing lights but it doesn't prevent you from landing.

EDIT: No, there's only one "right" direction. Your nose have to point towards the control tower. (The building with a spinning radar)

Have you selected the landing gear? are you landing with the back of the station facing you? use the radar screen to guide you on to the landing pad.

I've had this. Everything is as it should be (as is always) but it doesn't let you land.

I have to cancel docking request and then ask again and it works perfectly. I don't even move the ship, just cancel, request and boom. Landing radar suddenly appears.

Yep. For stations it's with the entrance behind you, but it's not so obvious when approaching outposts. You want to aim to be pointing towards the lit edge with the number above it.

Had this, mainly at outposts, sometimes its because the outpost was not target locked, sometimes not dead centre on the pad. Sometimes just thrust up and back down again. No big issue since you have plenty of time.

Yes This started for me in 1.01, it is very hard to dock sometimes due to this, you can sometimes see it twitch on and off when you get close enough - the little locator next to the radar is the only way to find it when it happens.

OP: I agree with others here, I have had it refuse to allow docking when facing the wrong way (easy happens on outposts). My rule of thumb is always try to face the buildings/away from the ramp on landing.

Just got the game and couldn't figure this out on the outposts. No problems in stations but got so frustrated trying to land on an outpost I just rammed the thing till I blew up.

Maybe next time they won't be so strict!
