landing pad doesn't glow

i'm getting tired of attempting a dock when the landing pad bugs out and doesn't glow. it leaves me with no choice but to hover around inside of the spaceport, and guess what? that's illegal, and i get in trouble (if not killed) due to a stupid bug.

I've noticed this a few times since the last patch. The first couple of times it sketched me out but honestly it's never prevented me from landing, at least not yet.

Actually, you do have a choice. You can fly out of the space port, cancel docking and try again either at that station or another one.

Yeah, yeah ok, I know.....

I never said it was a good choice ;)

I actually didn't know that you could use the scanner, and the missing flashing number has annoyed me several times too.

I wish they would paint the number with big yellow letters on the landingpad itself or put some kind of physical sign up at the pad.

Recently noticed there is a laggy effect sometimes upon approaching the pad, as if it has not quite settled on where Pad ** should be, onlt happened in last 2 updates

I have had that happen to me mainly in the "outpost" type of stations. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the approach profile one uses. I tend to approach this type of pads much lower than I would within a station, much like an actual glideslope IRL. Maybe this bugs out the system somehow and the holographic pad cues disappear.

Can confirm this is a bug - had the glow not show up twice yesterday.

Work around for now is use the compass but I guess not everyone will know that without reading the forums.

Agree with putting the number on the Pad. Also might be good to have the number on all 4 sides of the glow.

This IS a good idea.

No. It happens at outposts too. One of those annoying bugs that didn't rear it's head in Beta, but somehow squeezes in for release. And reversed pads are also still present at outposts.

It's what I'm saying. That I've seen the issue mostly in outposts rather than full blown stations. But, knowing that it happens anywhere, and that I have seen it most of all during landing at outposts, I am thinking the issue might have something to do with how we approach the pads.

At least in my case, I tend to approach pads differently when landing at outposts.

What I noticed at outposts (where there is only a single large pad which means that there are more chances of it being in use) is the following:

- a ship is using the pad as I approach, so I need to wait for it to leave before I can receive docking rights
- immediately after the ship leaves and I get docking rights I can land, but the pad is inverted. If I wait a little before requesting docking the pad orientation does not change
- as I approach the pad, it then gets lowered and then rotated back in the correct position
- as it moves back up, the pad illumination is turned off and I can no longer land
- I cancel the docking and request a new one - pad is in the correct position and I can land.

25 minutes to dock at an outpost

I dont mind waiting the odd minute for landing pads to become available, but 25 minutes? come on.... I could see all three pads and they all had a sidewinder just sitting their for that period. I was the only one waiting, in a Hauler with a bulletin board mission otherwise I would have left and sold the stuff somewhere else.

Anyone else had a long wait?

Please raise a ticket about the not glowing landing pad numbers.

I did this already and got the question back if it still occours - therefore I assume FD thinks it's solved and it's obviously not solved.

-> please inform FD via the ticked system (klick "Support" in the launcher).

Ah sorry! My apologies - I completely misread your first sentence. :) FWIW I tend to come in very low over pads (both in stations and outposts) and 'land' the ship like a plane touchdown. This used to cause issues with a) not being able to dock, and b) getting infractions from pads (which still occurs). However, pads disappearing for me seems to affect stations more, when you are some distance away still (i.e. having just cleared the docking port).

If you are at an anarchy outpost you could 'encourage' them to move with your lasers

This is consistent with what I'm seeing. I do this at outposts, and I see this problem more often there than in stations. I mean... at either type of place, the hologram would flicker on and off as I fly in, but once I get close to the pad, it is usually not a problem in the stations (again, with a steeper approach than outposts) whereas it still happens at outposts. Basically: I land 80% at outposts without the hologram or the landing assistance displaying my position relative to the pad, and this is yet to happen to me during landing in a station.

I didn't know that so reading this thread has been really useful!
