Landing pad numbers

The light signs pointing to the landing pad of a station have a problem. When you are near the pad, the sign disappears. This isn't a problem for most pads, but when you enter a cylindrical port, if you are supposed to land somewhere close to the entrance, then sometimes the pads won't light up, resulting in me being unable to locate the landing pad I'm supposed to land at and I have to either receive a loitering warning and risk death until I find the pad by randomly flying over each one at the entrance until the landing sequence on my screen begins, or leave the station, request docking again, and hope they assign me a different pad that I can see. I've had this issue with pad 13 especially, as well as a few others. I have yet to find out where pad 13 is positioned in a station by the way. I suggest you add painted numbers on each pad, so we can avoid this problem. Either that, or make the light signs more persistent and more distinguishable.

I have noticed that too, its not a problem if you see the number on your way in, but its a pain in the backside if you do not get that 1st glance, and then its gone......grrrrrrr

Yeah, I had this problem and reported it. I was wondering if it was on purpose to simulate system failures and etc.

I thought you were going to suggest something about the numbers themselves. I'd like to see the numbers appear backwards if you are approaching the pad from the wrong direction. This would be helpful at outposts - not so much at stations.

I thought so too at first but I figured out where the pads on the outposts are and I can pretty much approach from the right side. If not, it's not much of a hassle to do a turn while above it, but I agree with you. There should be some sort of directional help there as well.

It's a recent bug, I imagine it'll be fixed soon. The sign is meant to stay until you land.

Good to know it's a bug and not a design flaw. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

The pad numbers could be painted on the pads itself as well. Some way, to determine in which orientation one is supposed to land would be helpful indeed.

All the above is a problem I face too. I get around by using the compass. It points to your pad when you enter a star port (not sure about outposts).

I believe it does on outposts as well, but is far less useful as the pads are located on different surfaces. You could be directly above the pad, but it is on the other side of the outpost :)

You soon get used to hunting down the pads, and TBH there are only so many different configurations so you get to know where they are.

In the stations, the pads are always in the same location, so if you approach in the same orientation (i.e. keep the red lights on the entrance to your left) the pads will always appear in the same place. Pad 16 is the one in the entrance - I always give a small sigh when that number comes up :D
