Landing Pad Question

Apologies if this has been asked and I missed it ...

If I land on a landing pad in a station, and go into the hangar. Then someone else comes along and lands on the same pad as me, but stays on the surface. What happens if I want to leave?

This is a purely hypothetical question, I am sure this will never actually happen in-game ... it was just a "what if?" moment in my head.

nobody can occupy the same space in Elite and thats why they have multiple versions of the same space. ~Yes somebody could land on the same place, but they will not occupy the same instance which you are playing in. I hope you understand what I mean

I'm pretty sure that FD just cheats. There is no guarantee that you take off from the same landing pad as the one you land on, at least in the big stations.

you do unless you log out of game

Easy way to look at this game is a Multi-Verse where there in an unlimited amount of versions of the same space. As you will only ever see a maximum of 32 players in your verse then there will always be a landing pad for everybody (except and small landing stations where you have to wait your turn).

I think some of you are missing the "What if?" of the question .... yes, I know the game is designed so that it won't happen, but let's suspend reality for a moment and pretend you really are in that ship, sitting under that landing pad and someone has landed on the pad above. You want to leave.

Now, what happens?

Nobody is missing anything. You cannot land on a pad that is in use. That is why you get so many complaints about docking refusal's at outposts. You are thinking of problem that doesn't exist.

If you want to pretend this is reality, then nothing would happen, people in those control towers monitor everything. If a ship had to land on the pad, you would remain in the hanger until the ship above you departed.
