Landscaping, Building, Path and Decoration Ideas

*******EDITED FOR UPDATE 2 RELEASE! THANK YOU FRONTIER!

More customization to our parks themselves is still needed, here are four categories of ideas.

Mirror imaging for decorations and buildings: Being able to have a mirror image of our hotels and spino-skeletons will allow for more customization of our parks without brand new items. Mirror imaging is a tool that we only have for amenity buildings but other items will greatly benefit from.

Landscaping:

Fern brush- ferns can exist in many biomes and can be color matched to its location. Doesn’t spawn any grasses along with it so you can have ferns on flat ground if you want. Sizes vary from small to large.

Floral Brush- The ornamental brush has a lot of small flowers in it, but the floral brush will ramp up the diversity, density size and color of the flowers. The flowers will match their biomes.

Bamboo brush: Bamboo is excellent for landscaping and it comes in different colors. We can have green, yellow, black and red bamboo. Bamboo is fairly hardy and can exist in all biomes.

Dark brown dirt/ mud brush- This has been teased in the previous game and would be great for both enclosures and landscaping. We can use the brush as garden beds and place other plant brushes over the top.

Red Earth brush: In some deserts and tropical forests the soil is a rusty red color. This would add a lot more individuality to our landscapes/ enclosures.

Hedges- I think these should work differently from a placeable object- instead you should be able places hedges down like a fence- choosing straight or curved lines of them and how close to paths or other buildings they can be. Behaving like a fence allows for more customization, such as making a maze or simply lining gardens and fences. The hedges will match the biome they are in. The can also be different heights, like small medium and large.

Buildings/ structures:

JP/JW era Convention center- Convention centers are large and bring in more visitors, raising the demand for hotels. Convention centers are big, have 4 pathway connections and modules like amenities for customization.

JP/JW Grand hotel: Huge building that has a restaurant connected to it. 3 Pathway connections, huge capacity but expensive and are a energy hog.

JP/JW Museum- Odd maybe to have a museum in a biological park, but it can make for a interesting tourist attraction. Like the park itself, you can add fossils to the museum to up it’s rating and visitation. It is large and has 4 path connections, and you can choose different options for the exterior.

JP/JW Art gallery/ Exhibit hall- A large building that offers art galleries and different kinds of exhibits. It has 6 path connection options. You can customize the exterior.

Plazas: Plazas can be chosen from different presets, with square or circle shapes. All the edging around a plaza can connect to a path. You can place buildings and decorations on or connect to plazas unless there is a centerpiece in the middle or preset decorations like gardens or benches. There will be plain plaza options too so you can place what you want on them. Plazas are large, and can be color customized.

Fountains: Added in Update 2! Benches or other kinds of seating will compliment them if added.

Decorations:

Floor lights: Flat circular lights that can be placed on paths, the ground, in water, on plazas or in lagoons. For making a water centerpiece having them glow in the water will add a lot at night. They can be placed individually or be lined up like building a fence. You can choose the colors of the lights.

Placeable trees: Added in Update 2!

Koi/ water garden ponds: Ponds can come in small medium and large and you can pick from koi ponds, aquascaped ponds or having a blend of the two. The edges of the pond can connect to a path. They can be square, circle or rectangle shaped. It would be funny if escaped fish eaters would eat out of koi ponds.

Statuary: Statues can be placed on paths, plazas or plain ground. Statues are usually life sized depictions of important people (John Hammond, Dr. Wu) or the animals themselves. If adding statuary, be sure to have some for land, marine and aviary animals so those can be placed near the facilities that house them.

Statues can be individual animals or groups of animals. Some statues can have different poses for the same animal- like a Trex roaring and another T rex sniffing the ground.

Statues can be made of different materials- white marble, bronze, wood, concrete ect. Or having different types/ patinas for fewer materials can work as well.

One thing that would really make statues great is to be able to mirror image a statue- so a roaring Trex can be on either side of a path and roaring in two different directions.

Skeletons:* 1 Added! More needed! :) * Replica skeletons of our land marine and air animals would be another decoration option. They can be made to resemble actual bones or be made of different material like bronze. Life size skeletons would be ideal to have a visual impact, especially with big animals. Mirror image options will give more customization options.

Paths:

I have to get this off my chest- I literally facepalmed when we have the EXACT same paths from the last game. Nothing new, no customization. All paths should have different color options.

Upgraded fancy path: You can have more color options, like black, white, silver, brown ect.

Wood path: Can choose different types of wood like dark red or brown to natural colors. Comes in all available sizes. Can have different patterns to the boards too.

Stone paths: can be made from small river rock to large stones, different colors options and comes in all available sizes.

Natural paths: They look like pounded dirt paths with plants that are connected right on either side of it. The dirt can be color changed while the foliage along the path matches your biome. Comes in all available sizes.

Another path customization option is that paths can also have optional lamps/ floor lights lining them, making it easy to light up your paths at night.

I would like to have the following options:

A service paths just for the rangers and MVU to use that can connect to enclosure gates and cross other paths but doesn't take away from dinosaurs habitat and keeps the vehicles from driving through crowds on the main paths. They could just take the path until they get to the closest point and then depart the path.

The option for path bridges and underpasses so trails could go under or over enclosures and allow for viewing galleries to be in the middle of the enclosures. The bridge version could act as a barrier for sauropods and only allow smaller dinos under them. They could be implemented like City Skylines where the path itself is elevated or sunken or just as placable buildings that connect to each other.

Retaining walls that can be placed around buildings to allow buildings of differing heights to be placed next to each other. They could come in different qualities and properties, like the cheapest being sheet piling which looks bad but acts as a fence to block dinos from crossing it when they are loose, to the more expensive versions that look good but don't inhibit dinosaurs from crossing them due to the decorations. When they are first placed they could look like a fence or planter, and then they are exposed when an adjacent building is placed next to them.

I always thought that it would be interesting to create service routes, I made a thread in the Jurassic World Evolution "1" forum on this subject. The service paths could indeed be used by rangers and MVU. This would also make it possible to better distinguish the "exhibition for visitors areas" on one side of the enclosures and the whole "park management" part with veterinarians and rangers on the other.

I made a thread specificly about this a while ago.

But I like the idea of them specifically connecting to the enclosure gates. That would be really nice.

Wow great ideas everyone! Service paths would be handy and I love a dirt path option, especially if it's a darker color of the soil the biome is in. Thank you for sharing! Let's hope after this first Dino only DLC future DLC will have more decoration options!

I would love more JP era decor, sign display of all of the type of amenities you can choose from, and the ability to make bridges.

Yeah there are some JP era decorations still missing that would be great to add into the game. Bridges is something I'd like to see- both pedestrian and tour vehicle- it would add a lot to viewing animals :)

I, Too, have a related thread, that I think fits with this one

It's basically asking about a new decorations tab that's just individual enclosure markers for each dinosaur species, you could even just use their Map Icon for the Plaque, so you dont have to design a skeleton sign for every species.

Love the idea of marker tab! It would be nice to have signs for every species, even better if we could have stacked signs that point to multiple enclosures down a road for example.

One way to get more decorations, using the ones that are part of buildings, but not yet in the decorations tab. A good example would be the fossil wall currently on the shelters. Other decorations could be the fountains on the visitor's center.

This.

Would be nice to just have everything that exists as decorations in the buildings as actual decorations in the tab to place separately.

I love that we can customize amenity buildings, but we need more general customization to make our parks beautiful and unique. Here are ideas in four categories, and please add some of your own! Thanks for reading!

In general, with bigger maps I think we can get bigger structures like the innovation center, and if making dinosaur statues/ art go life size.

And just to add: Please give us first person mode where we can experience what a tourist sees. Even better if we can be attacked by dinosaurs.

Placeable trees. They will likely match the biome you are working in. We miss our individual trees and redwoods. Consider having different heights for each kind of tree- small, medium and large so we can artfully landscape and keep the hitboxes smaller than the last game so they can be placed closer together. Consider more types of trees being unlocked in sandbox mode.

Interesting, I hope that Frontier adds everything that the community requests, JWE 2 is a good game but with more content, new mechanics that expand the game experience, without a doubt, it will be the game that we all want the definitive management and dinosaur simulator.

Don't forget bridges, streams, and rivers too

Something that could enhance the look of the parks would be running, flowing water; namely waterfalls of all sizes. This would go with rivers and streams as well. Depending on future content, hopefully we get a wetland environment and aquatic type plants such as waterlilies and mangroves.
