We all knew that space is vastly, hugely, mind-boggingly big, but this first look and primitive mapping of the new defined galaxy supercluster Laniakea, in which our own local group and the Milky Way is just a tiny part of, is realy beyond the bounds of human imagination and experience.
But more than the huge distances and countless galaxies, what realy awes me is the picture they showed of the intricate network of galaxies (00:51 in the video). Isn't this a structure that looks quite familiar but from a much smaller scale and totaly different field of science, is it?
