I'm not familiar with the 1050 but I'd imagine at 1080p you'd have to turn the graphics settings down to a mix of med/high. Hopefully a 1050 owner will be along...

More importantly, it's available at amazon. I would not buy a computer from Argos if you held a gun against my head, whereas amazon have an excellent return policy.

As long as you aren't expecting "Ultra" at 1080p it'll work fine.

Medium-High settings should be ok though, the GTX 1050 is only around 10-15% slower on average than the desktop GTX 960, so should still push out high 40's at 1080p in the most demanding situations.

so why do they release this as a gaming pc?

My desktop is a old dell with quad core @2.6 with 8gb just replaced gtx580 with a 1050ti runs on ultra..

The engine still doesn't support dx12 which is multi thread.

does lowering the srtting improve responsiveness in a combat situation?

Also better spec doesn't improve gameplay lol

True, but it does help to remove the barriers to enjoying the gameplay that's already there.

As for the laptop, well, yeah, as others have said, it's pretty decent for a laptop, the 1050 is a perfectly capable card, but at 1080p/ultra you may see dips into the mid 40fps range when down on planet surfaces or in stations. In space you should be fine for a stable 60fps at 1080p. The 2Gb framebuffer may cause the most problems, but lowering texture quality would help.

A 1050Ti is a modestly faster, but also has double the VRAM. ED really likes VRAM if you want to run textures or shadows past medium.

While you certainly don't need all the eye candy for a good gameplay experience, higher resolution allows one to resolve details from further away and better frame rate reduces input latency, as well as improving smoothness of motion.

it's most definitely an entry-level gaming laptop. I have one with similar specs (An MSI GL62 - I added another 8GB of RAM) and it runs E:D at a mix of high/medium at 1080p/60Hz. It also runs BF1 on a mix of medium/low settings and BF4 on high, both at 60fps. BF1 does require some tweaking, but it's playable.
