Large Beam Turret price is a steal

Could it be that C3 Beam Turrets are slightly overpriced? You can buy 4 (four!) Vultures for that money and they don't seem to perform much better than C3 Burst Turrets which are sold for 800k.

Maybe I'm just going nuts, but I can't see a good reason for them to be so expensive. Btw. the price is almost 20 million credits.

You could say that about a few of the weapons really. But yeah the turreted beams are bloody useless for the cost :p
They end up causing you more drama then the enemy when they fry the hull.

i thought there was only D3 beam turrets, and the C3 were gimbals and only around 2.3m, the D3 turrets are 19m without a discount.

From what I gather, turrets are giant money sinks. They do less than half the damage of the fixed version of the same weapon, but cost 30 times more. Yet, you'll have to buy them anyway because if you have a larger, cumbersome ship, gimballed weapons won't do you much good in most fights.

My Anaconda with D class thrusters can pivot on the spot and make use of multi cannons with out too many issues. It all depends on what you do with the throttle and directional thrusters. I wouldn't waste time with turrets if I am honest.

I presume turrets are there for the future, so if we get multiple players on a ship, they can man a turret, heh.

Yes the price is insane and the performance is bad. I have B-class Annie with turrets in every hardpoint expect on the huge that has huge fixed plasma. Sometimes the turrets refuse to fire unless I change the turret mode from "target only" to "fire at will". Sometimes I actually need to hold the fire button down to make them fire and sometimes it only requires one click to activate them.

The tracking of the turrets quite often lacks behind the target and if they use chaff, the turrets become quite useless.

But despite of these flaws, I find turrets pretty relaxing, as I could - for example - sit at the HI-RES immobile and let the turrets blow up the hostile ships. But the OP is correct. Unless you got too many spare credits, stick with other than turret weaponry. At the moment, even though they are useful, they are not even nearly worth of the credits.
