Largest gathering of CMDRs

(I did do some searching before posting but didn't get the results)

What's the largest gathering of CMDRs in game, to date? Limited either by a technical limitation or CMDR apathy/interest how many CMDR ships have been in the same space(instance,) and is it recorded anywhere with video/screenshots?

I missed out on DWE as well. Hopefully we'll both get our chance during DWEII :)

Is it planned? I'm in, if it is

Yup - was awesome to be part of - though I think we actually got to 110 before people started to drop.

I also seem to remember getting a stern talking to by a dev somewhere...

Hah, that is neat. How did the game seem to run with everyone there, was performance impacted?

Performance wasn't too bad until about 80, it then started to get flakey, and people started to drop at about 110. The actual jump was not long after that video because we wanted to limit the number of people that dropped out. The vids of the actual jump are awesome...

That's a lot of players in the same instance. The players per Wing should be more than the current limit. :p

Nope... Wings were used to bring people into the instance, and then players dropped out of wings once they were there, creating new wings to bring in new people, dropping out of wings once in, and so on...

As I said, we were asked to not do it again. Would be cool if the instance limit could be raised to the 100+ (even ~200) level. It would make for some sensational space battles, not to mention awesome jump videos, and some pretty awesome scenes at CG stations where people would be lining up for docking slots. A queuing system would need to be implemented for docking, but it would be awesome seeing a hundred odd ships waiting for a slot, with a constant stream of ships going in and out...

Yes, I'd love to see more of that.

I certainly wouldn't be detered by the Devs wishes, there, inasmuch as if the game is capable - technically - then it should be a good thing. Stress testing. If the servers break, they need to work on it or limit it. (that reads blunter than I mean, the devs should be keen for this sort of thing, not worried)

But that aside, I love the idea of massive queues, and jumps, etc like you said. Just occupying space with a large group of CMDRs would be great. Deploying a SLF and buzzing my way through 100 ships would make a cool scene.

Was there any problems with the odd clown deploying hardpoints and trying to cause chaos?

The videos from the 4000/7000+ player battles in EVE look amazing, too, which prompted the question

It's in pre-planning for a Q2-Q3 launch this year, according to the Expedition Hub.

Subbed!

You might also like that one, which we organized to work around the servers liability by setting up several coordinated instances instead of one.

The Crab Nebula Expedition claims to have achieved about 150 Cmdrs, but I highly doubt it, at some point people just keep disconnecting all the time and it takes so long to reconnect and rejoin the instance that it's quite unlikely.
