Laser Mining LTD Hot Spot Yeild? O_o

I am not a massive mining fan, but tend to go Platinum mining if I need some quick cash. I tend to bring 250 limpets with me and easily fill-up my 512T cargo bay.

I need some Tritium though, so I decided to fly out to Kwele, where planet 10 has both LTD and Tritium hotspots and make some money whilst getting some fuel...

So I dropped into an LTD hotspot and have just used up all my limpets. I have 14T of Tritium and 18T of LTD?!?!?!

Is this normal? Was I very unlucky? Does LTD laser mining require a different approach to metal laser mining?

That seems pretty poor, Is it a pristine ring or a lower grade?

I would expect from a start of 450 limpets T9 to get from a single LTD Pristine ring 70 - 100T of each and a fair amount of Bromellite and MMC's, Bromellite is fast and easy to collect and MMC's are almost always wanted on mining missions.

Icy rings always have a poor return rate, usually about half what you will find in Metallic rings, ie. rich rocks are 30%+ compared with 60%+ in metallic.

Platinum? 250 limpets with me and easily fill-up my 512T ?

Bloody hell. You're better than me. Took me 2 evenings, 2 Cutter cargo holds of limpets to get 140 platinum and the rest Osmium. If I got a full cargo with 250 limpets.. I'd be drunk on champagne!

Depends on what you are willing to collect, the OP and myself both use carriers so mixed loads can be well worth collecting, mining in a hotspot in Pristine Metallic ring and taking Silver and better just using lasers and SD I have filled my hold plus bins with well under 250 limpets in less than 90 min using a T9 with 512t cargo space.

I tend to see what's being described here. I'm not into Core Mining, nor Sub-Surface, just laser mining as it's only a secondary function in my current gameplay.

I'm in the black Exploring & will scan any Metallic Ring I come across & will jump in & mine every Platinum hotspot I detect. As other's have noted, I can easily fill my 256T Cutter or 126T 'Conda (depending what I'm flying at the time) with Platinum & Osmium many 'roids giving 50-60%, ignoring all the other materials especially Painite now- as I'm looking to offset the cost of my next Carrier trip & atm these are the only two materials with a guaranteed decent selling price.

As for Ice Rings - as long as I'v enough Tritium in my hold to return to the bubble, I won't even scan these anymore, because the return for the limpets used is soo poor.

I'm kinda guessing they ran a query and realize they had like two billion tons of LTD stored on the server. So they nerfed it so hard nobody could get any more, they'll wait like 2 years until everyone has gotten rid of theirs, and then buff things back up.

But yeah, definitely not really worth bothering with right now.

There is reasonable amounts around, probably not enough for the get rich quick group, but still worth collecting as part of a mixed load if you are working from a carrier out in the black.

ICE ring mining was nuked in june and july 2020... All of the ICE ring high price items as PLANNED with the FC updates were reduced in ccontent generation...
This was announced in the forums in the update notes...

Metal and rocky rings were not negatively touched only ICE rings...

Ignore update notes at your own risk..
