Laser Mining Platinum Hot Spot- is this spot the spot ?

Am laser mining for platinum at Col 285 Sector KM-V d2-106. I fired off several dozen prospector limpets with 0 platinum rocks found, none. Maybe I'm at the wrong spot at this planet ? If you've been here before mining for platinum please help a brother out, any pics of the right spot would be appreciated.

Yes take it from this idiot (me) Metallic rings are the place to find laser minable platinum rocks(and platinum cores aswell0, metal rich only offer platinum cores, no laser mining to be found. I had spent about 2 hours in a metal rich looking for laser-able rocks myself before I realized my mistake.

Are you sure?

EDSM says that gas giant has a metallic A-ring (inner, narrow) and a metal-rich B-ring (outer, wide), and that screenshot is definitely of the B-ring.

(And several dozen prospectors should find at least a few Platinum rocks even in a non-hotspot part of a metallic ring, so...)

Aha! Thank you!

The 'A' ring is the innermost ring yes ?

For clarity sake please look at the pic below- is the arrow pointing to the 'A' ring ?

YES metallic are very very rare on out side ring B, always the inner planet side ring A first for laser mining, then check ring B only if ring A is proven wrong on the system map by ring a being labelled some thing else on system map.....

There is allways a Break between rings your just above looking on to black so cant see the black break between them... when you fire the probe in to the ring class A or B. the probe only highlights a single ring type when it never highlighted the inside when you probed thats the clue you only probed ring B...

YES ring A Is the multi coloured ring closest out to the planet...
Ring A in your picture has multi parts but thats only due to the bad picture when closer and probed it will all be ring A

Correct.

Looks like you have only scanned the larger outer B ring and missed the inner A ring. There is a double overlapping Platinum hotspot there where I have recently been doing lots of laser/SSD/core mining. I can fill up 200T Platinum + Osmium in my Python in about an hour.

You're in the wrong ring buddy. It's the inner ring. The point youre looking for is an area with 2 platinum hotspots right beside each other, with one on the very outer edge of the A ring, so it isn't a full circle. I've mined there before but prefer Musgravite core mining.
