Laser types and heat sinks, a strange but interesting thought bubble

This is just a suggestion that makes theoretical sense.

when you launch a heat sink and your ship reaches sub-zero temperatures we should get a temporary boost in armor/shielding of laser type weapons, considering they are heat based we are counter acting its effective means of damaging us.

of course if this is already the case I feel dumb but I haven't noticed any difference personally.

Sub-thought, maybe a shield module that bends light (considering we can already travel super-luminary speeds this isn't a far stretch) it of course would be a huge power hog, and would be effected by all sources of light so, trying to use it near a star would be it extremely short lived and in general it would replace shields but be a great utility to run away/hide for a few seconds, as well as have an effect on laser type weapons (possibly bend the beam revealing your location as it is warping the light around you?)

these are just thoughts while I am roaming around in space.

thoughts anybody?

Heat sinks already boost the weapon energy. Notice the 3 "bars" on the right, just next to your ship shield/hull indicator.
If you move all pips to sys/eng, then if you shoot your weapons the wep bar will decrease, and won't regenerate (You have to put pips in wep to recharge it, the more pips you put there, the faster it recharges). Now, if you pop a heatsink, the bar will recharge some energy, even if you didn't put pips in wep.
Actually, it works with all kinds of weapons, not just laser types.

I was thinking more defensively than offensively but that is definitely interesting to know! learn something new about ED everyday :D
