Newcomer / Intro Lasers won't fire

Thought I'd give combat a go, bought and outfitted a Fer-de-Lance, took it out in the middle of nowhere to confirm operation. Please take a look at the vids { link} below, I can't get my pulse lasers to fire. I have multi-cannons which do fire, but the lasers, nada. You can hear a 'dry fire' sound while the lasers aren't firing. They're assigned to fire groups and are powered 'on'. PiPs to WEPS.
What stupidly obvious thing am I missing ?

Yes. And that solved the problem. I went back to the station, installed 1F pulse lasers in place of the 2F turreted that were there, problem solved.
Just curious, why didn't/ don't the turreted pulse lasers work ? Do they need a target as you suggested ? What do you guys think of the Fer-de-Lance ?

Are they turreted weapons ?
Will they fire if you have no target selected ?

I'm just guessing - I never use them.

You can set your turrets to forward fire if you want to check PD settings etc on fitting or modding - they behave like gimbals then but inflict less damage. Selecting them to Target Only is the way I have then in normal use - then you select a target, press the fire button and they carry on shooting at that target until it is destroyed or you lose (or change) lock.

I can't speak to turrets since I don't use them myself but as to the FdL; it's a superb fighting vessel; a favourite for PvP. When engineered to the eyeballs it's a fast, dangerous and highly effective platform. I personally don't use it that much because the Krait more fits my fighting style, but the FdL's thrusters, weapons placement and that Huge hardpoint give it a serious presence in a fight.
Damn comfy too; if you're into wood trim and chrome. ;)

Cheers!

I've not used the FdL much but it seems pretty nifty. As for turrets, I have them fitted on my Anaconda and they work really well - for me, anyway; others eschew them but then they are much more experienced pugilists.
